About the Business
Welcome to MCHN Mernda, a trusted institution located at 70 Mernda Village Drive in Mernda, Australia. Our establishment is a health-focused point of interest that offers a range of services to support the well-being of families and the development of children.
At MCHN Mernda, we provide a free and confidential Maternal and Child Health Service (MCH) for families residing in the City of Whittlesea. Our dedicated staff consists of Registered Nurses who hold additional qualifications in Midwifery and Maternal and Child Health. With their expertise, our team delivers ongoing care to improve the health, safety, and overall well-being of families.
It's important to note that MCH services across Victoria are currently facing a shortage of qualified Maternal and Child Health Nurses. Despite this challenge, we strive to offer a comprehensive range of consultations to meet the needs of our community.
Currently, our MCH service is available for infants from birth up to 12 months of age, as well as for all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander infants, children, and families. We also welcome children and families with additional needs, ensuring that everyone receives the support they require.
In addition to our MCH services, we offer a Drop-In service and the MCH Line (132 229) for further assistance and guidance. Our aim is to provide continuous support for families throughout their parenting journey.
To schedule a key ages and stages appointment or make changes to an existing appointment, please request an MCH Appointment. For urgent enquiries regarding appointments within the next two working days, please contact our team directly at 9404 8888, between 9am-4.30pm, Monday to Friday.
If you have any concerns or questions about breastfeeding or feeding your baby, feel free to chat with one of our Maternal and Child Health Nurses or Lactation Consultants. These sessions serve as an opportunity to seek advice and support in between your child's Key Ages and Stage assessments.
We also offer First Time Parent Groups and Sleep and Settling programs, which are facilitated by professionals to assist parents in navigating the challenges of early parenthood.
Our Enhanced Maternal and Child Health (EMCH) Service is an outreach program designed to provide additional support to families with children from birth to preschool age who may be experiencing parenting, relationship, or well-being challenges.
At MCHN Mernda, we are committed to engaging with and supporting the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community. Our Deadly Boorais and Deadly Families Programs actively involve families and children who identify as Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander, ensuring their access to our Maternal and Child Health service. As part of these programs, we offer the Yarning Circle and Drop-In Sessions, which provide a space for connection and engagement within the City of Whittlesea.
For further resources and information, we recommend contacting the Maternal and Child Health 24-hour health line at 13 22 29. Additionally, you can download the Maternal and Child Health app, which offers reliable everyday information for families.
At MCHN Mernda, we are here to support you and your family's health, well-being, and development. Contact us today to access our range of services and expertise.
