Dundas Street Medical Clinic 4 Dundas Street, Thornbury, Victoria 3071
About the Business
Welcome to Dundas Street Medical Clinic, a trusted establishment located in Thornbury, Australia. With a rich history dating back to the early 1920s, our clinic has been dedicated to providing quality healthcare to the local community and surrounding suburbs for generations.
Our state-of-the-art facility, which replaced the original weatherboard home in the mid-1960s, has undergone extensive renovations over the years to ensure a comfortable and modern environment for our patients. We take pride in our team of well-established general practitioners, who have accumulated years of experience in family medical practice and have met the rigorous training requirements of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners.
At Dundas Street, our doctors are committed to the principles of general practice and continuous medical education. They have the freedom to set their own patient fees, with some choosing to Bulk Bill children under 16 and pension card holders. For specific fee information, we recommend checking individual doctor's websites or contacting our practice directly.
Patient feedback is of utmost importance to us, and we appreciate the valuable input received through our patient feedback survey. We have carefully listened to our patients' suggestions and are constantly working towards improving the quality of our services. As part of our commitment to reducing waiting times, our dedicated team members prioritize time management to ensure minimal wait times for our patients.
Dundas Street Medical Clinic places a strong emphasis on patient privacy and ensures that all personal and health information is handled professionally, securely, and in accordance with the Australian Privacy Principles and relevant Victorian Privacy Legislation.
New patients are always welcome at our clinic. When visiting for the first time, please remember to bring your Medicare card, health care card, or pension card. To expedite the registration process, we kindly request that you arrive 10 minutes before your scheduled appointment to complete a "new patient registration form."
As a mixed billing practice, our doctors set their own private fees. While some doctors may continue to Bulk Bill pension card holders, out-of-pocket expenses may apply for certain procedures, which will be discussed during consultations. Detailed information regarding individual doctor fees can be found online or obtained from our reception staff.
We kindly request a minimum of 2 hours' advance notice for appointment cancellations to allow other patients to utilize that time slot. Failure to provide sufficient notice will result in a non-rebatable fee of $25 for missed appointments.
For repeat prescriptions, an in-person consultation or telehealth appointment, if appropriate, is required. Please note that medical certificates cannot be backdated for legal reasons.
Specialist referrals can only be obtained following a consultation with one of our doctors, either in person or via telehealth if appropriate. Referrals cannot be backdated, so please ensure you obtain one prior to your specialist appointment.
Test results are typically available within 3 working days, and we encourage patients to schedule an appointment to discuss their results. This ensures confidentiality and allows for appropriate actions to be taken.
To be eligible for a telehealth appointment with a Medicare rebate, patients must have had a face-to-face consultation with one of our doctors within the previous 12 months. Telehealth appointments are billed at the same rate as face-to-face appointments.
If you need to transfer your medical records from another clinic or hospital, please request and complete a "transfer of medical records" form at our reception. Signed consent is required, and there may be associated costs.
Similarly, if you wish to transfer your medical records from Dundas Street Medical Clinic to another medical center, please provide an appropriate request and consent form. This process usually takes 7-14 days and incurs a $50 fee for full record transfers, as they are copied to disc and sent via registered mail.
We understand that work-related injuries can happen, and our doctors are available to provide care for such cases. If there is a current claim number, the insurer will be billed directly. Otherwise, the patient is responsible for the costs.
Please note that our clinic email is not intended for medical advice, requests for referrals, prescriptions, medical certificates, or appointment arrangements. To ensure prompt assistance, please contact the clinic directly at 94842007 or book an appointment online.
Thank you for choosing Dundas Street Medical Clinic as your trusted healthcare provider. We look forward to serving you and your family with the highest standard of care.

Reviews
"Have been going to the Clinic for a number of years and have always found the service & care to be first class. From the receptionists and office staff to my Doctor Mark Michail who has always gone above & beyond to look after my health. I have no doubt that their efforts have led to my health being in a lot better place than might otherwise have been. Cannot recommend highly enough"
"It's such a shame that Dr Lee works here because she's the best GP I've ever had. Now I'll have to find a new doctor because I refuse to ever again interact with the unbelievably rude, compassionless and incredibly condescending reception staff who work here."
"Can't say I've ever thought to review a doctor's surgery before, but was quite surprised at the poor feedback here. I think we've seen most of the GPs on staff, and aside from a couple (can't gel with them all!) I think they have all been amazing in their care and treatment of myself and my family. Reception staff are responsive, friendly and whilst sometimes there are sometimes small waits / delays getting seen, I also appreciate when a couple of extra minutes are taking on consults that need them, so can't truly complain. So glad to have this clinic close to our family home, and our family is truly better for the empathetic care and treatment we've received over the last few years."
"I had a GP feel very comfortable telling me his opinion on my tattoos whilst I was receiving a skin check. It was very uncomfortable for me and very unnecessary for him to insert his personal opinion on tattoos. Comments included “they’re weird” “you’ll regret them one day” “I don’t understand “ “you might want to think about getting more in the future” I did not ask for a personal opinion , I paid $110 for a skin check, not too be judged by a middle aged man."
"Was coming here throughout my pregnancy and after for baby check ups. Recently went to book in for an appointment and realised I’d have to pay for an appointment even though I’m on a pension.. not everyone can afford to see a doctor and there’s not many bulk billing clinics around anymore that are actually decent. Disappointing."
