About the Business
Welcome to Lisa Burns Clinical Psychologist, located at 69 Central Coast Highway in West Gosford, New South Wales, Australia. Our establishment is a trusted point of interest for those seeking affordable therapy on the Central Coast.
As a highly experienced clinical psychologist with over 20 years of expertise, I specialize in working with adults of all ages who are facing psychological distress. With a Master's degree in Clinical Psychology and full membership in the Australian Psychological Society, you can trust that you are in capable hands.
My approach to therapy is evidence-based, meaning I utilize techniques and strategies that have been proven effective in treating a wide range of psychological issues. After an initial assessment, I will tailor your psychotherapy to your specific needs, drawing from various approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Trauma-Focused Cognitive Therapy, Interpersonal Therapy, Mindfulness, EMDR, and Motivational Interviewing. Whether you require a skills-based treatment approach or a longer-term focus on emotional and self-development, I am committed to helping you lead a happier and more meaningful life.
In addition to my expertise in general psychological distress, I have a particular interest in chronic illness and the psychological impact of autoimmune conditions. I take a holistic approach to therapy, integrating mind, body, and spirit to improve overall well-being.
If you struggle with attentional differences, time management, procrastination, or organizational skills, I can help reduce their impact on your daily functioning. I am also dedicated to supporting individuals in embracing their neurodiversity and unique talents while addressing hardships such as difficulties with social communication, isolation, loneliness, and low self-esteem.
For those in need of financial assistance, I am an approved Work Development Order (W.D.O.) sponsor in New South Wales. This government initiative allows vulnerable individuals to clear outstanding fines through activities and treatment. While this service does require a gap fee, rebates are available under Medicare. To access these rebates, you will need a doctor's referral and a Mental Health Care plan.
I also accept DVA Health cards (Gold and White) as payment upon GP referral.
My fees for initial assessments range from $215.00 upfront (with a Medicare rebate of $131.65) to standard consultations lasting 50 minutes or more priced at $195.00 upfront (with a Medicare rebate of $131.65). For extended consultations providing psychological trauma-focused therapy lasting 90 minutes, the upfront fee is $292.50 (with a Medicare rebate of $131.65).
To benefit from the Medicare rebate, you will need a referral from your doctor and a mental health care plan. If you are not covered by Medicare, please check with your private health insurer to see if you have coverage for allied health items.
Please note that pricing arrangements may differ for other services, such as NDIS allied health support. While the APS recommended fee for 2022-2023 is $280 for a standard consultation, my fees remain modest in comparison. After your initial assessment, I am open to negotiating fees, and bulk billing may be available by prior arrangement for those who require it.
If you need assistance with sexual, domestic, or family violence, please reach out to 1300 737 732.
