"i went to the music school on whitehorse rd just down from Box Hill Central. i went as a mature age student when in my mid 20s . i am now in early 50s and can honestly say that even as though i never used my paperwork for anything, what i learnt as a musician was timeless. to understand things better, with live music, you could be a professor auditioning against someone who is self trained. the paperwork will say something, but wont open any doors for them unless they can open doors with their academic contacts, and if reading required how well they read. They will be auditioned along with everyone else, and playabilities, contacts, versatility and how they will look with the others who have already part of the ensemble, being Rock or Pit music , Classical.basically your playing will get the job. All in all the College helped me in all styles and be aware of all matters of the industry plus great 1 on 1 preferred instrument lessons. Now days people think they can play the guitar by reading Tablature even the solo is in tab. but they generally wouldnt know a note on the neck or a scale. so if you are messing around with a groove and just jamming, they are lost."
