About the Business
Welcome to Paul Sadler Swimland Carrum Downs! Located at 149 Hall Road in Carrum Downs, Australia, our establishment is a point of interest and a health-focused institution. Our site manager, Sue, has been a part of the Paul Sadler Group since 1978, starting as a university student at the Brighton site and eventually moving to Carrum Downs in 2015. Sue is passionate about swimming, bike riding, her two labradors, and being on patrol at Chelsea Lifesaving Club.
At Paul Sadler Swimland Carrum Downs, we offer a wide range of swimming lessons for all ages and skill levels. From babies as young as 4 months old to adults, we have classes tailored to meet everyone's needs. We also provide private lessons for those who prefer one-on-one instruction.
Our institution is committed to water safety, and we offer kinder swimming programs and school swimming programs that align with the Victorian Water Safety Certificate. If you're interested in enrolling in regular swimming lessons, you can book a FREE 1:1 assessment through our online portal or by giving us a call.
We understand that children with special needs may require a different approach, and our experienced teachers are skilled at catering to their individual requirements. Our goal is to teach swimming and survival skills in an engaging and stress-free manner. We prioritize creating a love for the water, and we use teaching aids to build confidence and coordination before introducing new skills.
You can trust that our teachers are empathetic, nurturing, and passionate about their work, ensuring that our swimmers feel safe and comfortable in the water. Our smaller class sizes allow for more personalized attention, and our teachers have extensive training, surpassing the national accreditation requirements.
In addition to stroke development, we also focus on teaching survival skills. We believe that swimming should be fun, and we incorporate entertaining methods to teach these essential skills. Our swimming babies program is a great way to introduce your little ones to the water and help them develop confidence and survival skills. For children aged 4 months to 3 years, we offer a parent/child program, and for babies aged 4-5 months, these lessons are free. Once children reach 3 years and up, they can join our independent swimmers program to further enhance their skills.
At Paul Sadler Swimland Carrum Downs, we also offer private lessons, adult classes, and holiday programs to cater to all swimmers' needs. Our pools are maintained at an average temperature of 32 degrees throughout the year, ensuring a comfortable experience for our students. We prioritize safety by regularly monitoring the water quality and maintaining an automated chlorination system.
So, whether you're looking to enroll your child in swimming lessons or want to improve your own skills, book with us and experience the swimming lessons loved by Carrum Downs locals. We take pride in our teaching techniques, focus on survival skills, and commitment to providing a safe and enjoyable swimming experience. "VERY ABLEIST!! So disappointed! Phoned a week ago to book my 20 mo into a session, the lady was lovely and I explained that my child had not had swimming lessons in 12 months, but had had previously. We arrived today, saying we were new, with little acknowledgement by the swim teacher. The class had 8 children in it (inclusive) with an age-range of 18mths-3yo!! My partner led our child around doing the activities he could, as the 2 swim teachers vaguely gave instructions whilst they walked in the other direction. When our child was attempting to do the ‘kicking on their back’ and struggling, as well as other activities, the response by the swim teacher was “he’s not at this level yet, he needs to move down” She told my partner, “he can just float over there at the side of the pool and watch” WHAT! This was following NO attempt to support my partner or our child with any of the activities. The teacher simply explained that all the children in that group had been together for 8mths already and were competent. She had the audacity to say “given his age, that’s where your child should be at” As a primary school teacher, this ableist approach is not good enough. Meet the child where they’re at! Offer support! Offer an assessment session to level them correctly in the first place! Don’t have such broad age ranges you’re trying to cater for in 1 session! Half the kids couldn’t engage in all activities - making the class truly accessible to only the near 3yos. Just why!! Do better Paul Sadler - for present and future kiddos - and unbeknownst parents. WE won’t be back!"
"After months of weekly lessons with no progress, I requested to move to private lessons as my son has difficulty with his attention span. I was advised not to do that as if there was no progress within the required timeframe we would then be provided private lessons at no additional costs. Multiple months and follow up conversations later, I called in a final attempt to organise private lessons and was told they were all booked out, and only offered at times that were completely unrealistic for us. Why were we not informed private lessons are not available on weekends when we exclusively attend weekend classes? If private lessons have been booked out, why was I not put on a waiting list 6 months ago when I requested? Since switching to a new centre, we have had two lessons and I’ve seen more progress than I did in over 12 months with Paul Sadler."
"Our son started swimming lessons at 8 months and it's been so rewarding watching him progress in each class for the last 3 months. The teachers and staff there are just absolutely amazing. Would definitely recommend Paul Sadler Swimland Carrum Downs to family and friends."
