Star of the Sea College
About the Business
Star of the Sea College is a renowned educational institution located at 80 Martin Street, Brighton, Australia. As an establishment, point of interest, and school, we are dedicated to providing young women with a holistic education that nurtures their spiritual, academic, physical, and creative growth within a compassionate Catholic context.
At Star of the Sea College, we believe in empowering our students to become well-rounded individuals who are not only academically successful but also compassionate and socially conscious. We strive to instill in them the values of empathy, kindness, and a commitment to social justice.
To give you a glimpse into our campus, we invite you to take a virtual panoramic photo tour and hear from our esteemed Principal, Ms. Mary O'Connor. Through this tour, you will be able to explore our state-of-the-art facilities and vibrant learning spaces that foster creativity and innovation.
We are proud to be a part of the Star Family, where we prioritize community engagement and making a positive impact. Recently, our Year 7 class captains had the opportunity to interview Sr Brigid Arthur AO, a special member of our Star Family. Sr Brigid shared insights about the plight of asylum seekers and the work of her organization, the Brigidine Asylum Seeker Project (BASP). In response, our students have initiated an 'Empathy Challenge' to collect pantry items and raise funds for this cause.
Sustainability is also a key focus at Star of the Sea College. Our Sustainability Club, led by Beth, recently organized an exciting and successful clothes swap. The aim was to repurpose clothes that would otherwise end up in landfills, showcasing our commitment to sustainability and taking action beyond words.
We are delighted to announce the upcoming annual Star of the Sea College Mothers and Guardians Luncheon, which will be held on Friday, October 6, 2023. This event promises an enjoyable afternoon of networking and celebration at Encore, followed by an after party at Captain Baxter. The dress theme for the occasion is Spring Racing, adding a touch of excitement to the event.
In 2024, we are thrilled to welcome new students from the Melbourne Indigenous Transition School (MITS) to our college. As one of MITS's partner schools, we are committed to providing a supportive and inclusive environment for these students to thrive and succeed.
Our commitment to fostering creativity and literary skills is evident through our participation in the national Write a Book in a Day competition. Our Writers' Collective, consisting of students from Years 7 to 12, showcased their talent and passion for writing, representing our college with pride.
We value the involvement of our community, and we cordially invite all parents and guardians to the Parents' Association Trivia Night. This popular event promises an evening of fun and friendly competition.
Additionally, we are excited to celebrate Star of the Sea College's 140-year legacy with a special afternoon for past students. This event will provide an opportunity to reconnect, enjoy live music, and reminisce about the cherished memories from their time at our institution.
We are also proud to announce Star of the Sea College's Giving Day for 2023, which supports our Bursary Program. This program is truly life-changing as it provides financial assistance to deserving students, ensuring that they have equal access to quality education.
To learn more about our college and the programs we offer, we encourage you to take a virtual panoramic photo tour of our campus. Hear directly from our Principal, Ms. Mary O'Connor, as she shares insights into our educational philosophy and vision.

"pls lower the canteen prices this isn't a 5 star airline with first class food and beverage service its a school canteen"
"My daughter has just commenced at Star, and has been super excited to commence her journey at this school since year Prep. Star has so far proven to be superbly organised, welcoming, and encouraging, providing excellent communication to both students and parents from the very start. My daughter has already become involved in different clubs and has quickly adapted to the Star way of helping others, and is very eager to take on all the opportunities that this school has to offer."
"A wonderfully inclusive school that caters for all levels of academic abilities. The school’s focus is very much on the individual rather than steering students in a particular direction. Having said that the school’s current academic results are a testament to Star’s current management and teaching program. There is a large range of subjects and extra curricular activities on offer. Many students participate in sport and music representing Star at inter-school events with wonderful results. The school’s strong social justice focus encourages students to examine their world and contribute towards making it a better place. Star’s facilities are first rate with a new building recently completed. It is rapidly becoming a school of the future."
"I have 2 daughters at Star. They are really enjoying their time at the school. The school offers a large number of subjects and co curricular activities to suit them both. Both my girls are heavily involved in co curricular activities and the many clubs the school has. It one of the many positives of a big school. All schools have issues, but I have always found the staff very supportive, very approachable and fair."
"My daughter is at this school and she’s happy there. I know that Star has a great community that cares. The teacher’s strive to bring out the best in the girls. They also care about their well-being. I’m really happy my daughter’s a Star girl!"
