"got my first piercing here, just the lobes, on the day of opening. they were having a few issues with double booking which was expected since it was the first day but staff stayed super friendly and helpful. i got my ears pierced by ryan who did a perfect job at preparation and explained everything perfectly and made me feel comfortable. i definitely plan to get another piercing from here. thank you guys!"

"Upon arrival, the feminine presenting staff were absolutely delightful. I was getting my septum re-pierced, after having it done about a year & a half ago at Skinkandy Tuggerah. (I had taken it out after about 6 months for a job I was working at the time). However, there was a blonde, masculine presenting staff member with a stretched septum that made me feel ill with how they spoke to me. I had asked the lovely staff member who took care of me on arrival whether it was still possible to get pierced with a ring, rather than a horseshoe. I had no qualms with getting pierced with a horseshoe, I was just genuinely curious as the ring was what I had been recommended last I was pierced. The former staff member was unsure & grabbed the masc staff member in question to ask whether it was an option. They came over to explain the difference in the healing process. I started to say that I understood the process a little from last I was pierced & was going to ask if they would recommend sticking with the horseshoe, when they snapped & cut me off. They proceeded to deliver the rest of the information with absolute bite, condescension & an aggravated tone. I’m a very calm individual with a soft demeanour & genuinely wanted to ask for their professional opinion in a dialogue. I had no intention of pretending I was an expert in the matter. I haven’t been spoken to the way they spoke to me in absolute years, let alone had someone roll their eyes at me when they walk away from me. I felt berated, anxious & embarrassed, which is not a comfortable space to be in before being pierced. As I was waiting to be taken into the piercing room, I overheard them recounting our conversation with a nasty tone & flippant embellishments. I contemplated just leaving at that point. I respect that that is their workplace & they may have misunderstood my intentions, but it left me feeling awful & shrivelled up. I heard them have a lovely manner with everyone else in the store, so I feel this may have been an isolated incident. But you never know what someone is going through & in my circumstance, I’d just gotten news that a close friend had been killed in a workplace accident. To be spoken to in that way had me nearly in tears. There is a difference between a professional delivery of essential information & downright nastiness. This was nothing short of the latter. All I had hoped for was to have a quick consultation, (because I don’t have the professional knowledge the staff do), with an approach of curiosity & trust. That encounter broke my trust in Skinkandy. I have been pierced several times by Skinkandy in the past & always had a pleasant, informative experience with lovely staff members. I’ve always referred friends to Skinkandy because of this. I’m so disappointed in this experience & still feel ill from the treatment by the staff member in question. Thank you to the lovely staff member who pierced me & did an excellent job, but I would never return to the Plenty Valley store."
