"All smiles but secretly hyper judgemental. My newborn is perfectly happy and healthy, no neglect or drugs alcohol etc at home just these people judging for being aboriginal. Also the lady woke my baby while weighing and pressed hard on baby's privates for no reason, making her cry. Unfortunately may have to complain to medical board since they're antisocial for no reason, if she wanted to air her doubts about teeth or why our families are healthy she should've talked to us about it. What a creep."
"Very polite and friendly team. We had our first (2 week) check up with our first born baby at Top Ryde Child and Family Health Centre, the team were very helpful and provided a lot of helpful information. We left feeling empowered and our baby was in great hands."
"I came here as a first time mum 3 days post partum looking for some breastfeeding advice and it was honestly the worst thing I could have done. I had an appointment with the nurse Kathy and the entire experience was a nightmare. Kathy was more interested in her computer than myself and my baby when trying to show her the issues I had with feeding my baby, she then gave the flippant advice of using a nipple shield but when asked what size I should get she said "go to your pharmacy and get them to find out for you". My baby couldn't latch whilst in the appointment because the room was overheated and she was floppy but instead of turning on the air-conditioning Kathy said that I shouldn't rely on breastfeeding because its obvious my baby wasn't going to latch so I should use formula instead. She then asked me multiple times how many mL's my baby was getting, which is an impossible question to answer when breastfeeding as you have no idea, and then she insisted that I must be measuring her intake by mL's so again dissuading me from breastfeeding. She then proceeded to weigh my baby, who had dropped 100g from the previous day but was still within 10% of her birth weight which I was told by the midwives in hospital is completely normal. Kathy then started to berate me that my baby had dropped in weight and it was clear that she wasn't eating enough. She then continued to insinuate that I was a bad mother for not feeding her enough and decided to conveniently let me know at this point in time that this was a mandatory reporting service and that if she believed anything was going awry with my care of my baby that she had a duty of care to report me to relevant authorities. It was at this point that I was trying my best to hold back tears, because not only had Kathy not been at all helpful in providing any sort of breastfeeding advice, she tried her best to dissuade me from breastfeeding whilst also insinuating that I was harming my baby and threatening me with calling the authorities. To do this to a woman with her first born child, three days post partum when a woman's hormones are the most variable and it is well known that a woman is most vulnerable emotionally is disgraceful. Kathy clearly does not have the skills to be able to counsel women on breastfeeding and her bedside manner is subpar at best. She is in desperate need of training in both of these areas. Whilst she is working at this Health Centre I will be doing my darned best to avoid it. I wouldn't recommend this clinic to anyone."
"Would love to know which nurses are getting the 5 star reviews and the 1 stars as our first experience with our baby at 2 weeks we had a lovely nurse who was gentle and gave good information and I wish I could remember her name so I could post it here. Cut to today when my partner goes in for the 6 week appointment and calls me crying because of the way the nurse treated her during the session, tried to accuse us of using shampoo on our babies head which is supposedly causing the rash he has on his head to which my partner several times tried to tell her that we don’t to which the nurse basically just brushed past it without acknowledgment. Couldn’t give you the nurses name as she didn’t even introduce herself to my partner, several other things were said to my partner in a dismissive fashion to make her feel bad about our babies progress. Likely won’t go back for the next appointment unless we could ensure we don’t have to deal with that peanut of a nurse who seemingly has no bedside manner and shouldn’t be dealing with mothers and very small toddlers."
"Website opening hours and what their nurses tell parents about availability should reflect their actual opening hours. Got here at 1:50pm on a Monday with child medical emergency only to find it all shutdown and this inconsistent signage out front."
