About the Business

Welcome to Malabar Headland National Park, a stunning coastal destination located between Maroubra and Malabar beaches in Sydney's east. This establishment, park, point of interest, and tourist attraction offers visitors dramatic cliff top views, rugged bushland, and a variety of outdoor activities.
The park is divided into two sections. The western section is open year-round, allowing visitors to enjoy the breathtaking views and explore the natural landscape. Towering cliffs, sandstone escarpments, and remnants of heritage structures dominate the scenery, creating a truly unique experience. From here, you can take in expansive views that stretch from Bondi in the north to La Perouse in the south.
Malabar Headland National Park is a popular spot for coast walks and fishing. Whether you're a seasoned hiker or simply looking for a leisurely stroll, the park's trails offer something for everyone. Keep an eye out for humpback whales during whale watching season as they cruise the Pacific Ocean.
For those seeking a refreshing swim in the summer, Maroubra Beach and Malabar Beach are located near the Western Escarpment walking track and Boora Point walking track. These popular swimming spots provide the perfect opportunity to cool off and relax.
Nature lovers will be delighted to discover the diverse range of wildlife and protected vegetation within the park, including the critically endangered eastern suburbs banksia scrub. This unique ecosystem is a testament to the importance of preserving and conserving our natural heritage.
Please note that the eastern section of Malabar Headland National Park may be closed when the adjacent ANZAC Rifle Range is in use. As the largest rifle range in the southern hemisphere and the headquarters of the New South Wales Rifle Association, safety measures are in place to ensure the well-being of all visitors. We encourage you to check safety messages and alerts before planning your visit.
To enhance your experience at Malabar Headland National Park, we recommend downloading the free NSW National Parks app. This app allows you to access maps, explore the park's attractions and activities, and even find nearby accommodation options—all without the need for mobile reception.
Come and immerse yourself in the natural beauty and tranquility of Malabar Headland National Park. Whether you're seeking adventure, relaxation, or simply a connection with nature, this coastal gem is sure to leave a lasting impression.
Reviews
"Easy afternoon stroll. Flat surface, yet not accessible to wheelchairs. Beautiful views, watch whales, seals and/or dolphins."
"yet another beautiful, well maintained national park! started my walk from The Big Rubik’s Cube towards Malabar Beach. lost count of the number of times i had to stop and take in these gorgeous views along the way. route was rather easy which took me just about an hour."
"Nice walk and magnificent views! I started walking from Malabar pool to Maroubra beach, then return to the pool and swim! Was such a perfect day!"
"Great walking trail next to Maroubra Beach! About a 3 to 3.2km (52 min hike at 16min/km with altitude gain of 52m) hike from the Beach end to the Boat Ramp carpark off Fisherman’s Road. You can park either end although it was a struggle on a Sunday to park at Maroubra Beach carpark. Trail is relatively flat however there are stairs so probably not recommended for wheelchairs. Most of the trail is paved but about 300m at the start of either end is either gravel or sand. Views are fantastic on a sunny day! Remember to bring your suntan lotion and wear your cap and sunglasses!"
"Easy walk with amazing views of the sandstone cliffs over the ocean. Took about 1.5 hours to walk (which included lots of stopping for photos), only took 1 hr on the way back. Malibar beach was a nice quiet place to take a break before making the return trip back to Maroubra beach. Would be a fun day for anyone including families with kids"
