About the Business
Welcome to Airey Park, one of Strathfield's most significant and beloved parks located at 32 Bates Street, Homebush. Spanning an impressive 7.75 hectares, Airey Park offers a wide range of sporting and recreational facilities, making it a popular destination for locals and tourists alike.
As one of the largest parks in Strathfield, Airey Park boasts a first-class sports oval that is heavily utilized by the school community for annual athletics events. It serves as a hub for various activities and is fondly referred to as the 'Family Park'. The park also acts as a vital corridor of open space, connecting suburbs, shops, parks, schools, workplaces, and people's homes, making it easily accessible for all.
In addition to its sporting amenities, Airey Park features a unique fitness facility available for public use. It is also conveniently situated on the Bay to Bay walk, with a cycleway running its length, providing opportunities for leisurely strolls and bike rides amidst the picturesque surroundings.
Airey Park holds historical significance, having been dedicated as a public park in 1920 and named after Joseph Airey, an esteemed Alderman of Strathfield Council. Airey's instrumental role in securing a generous land donation from the firm of Marcus Clark, of which he was the Managing Director, led to the establishment of this beautiful park. Over the years, the council has acquired additional land to expand its size.
The park is home to several community-based facilities, including the Strathfield Children's Centre, Strathfield Sessional Preschool, and the Strathfield Community Centre. The latter, built in 1990, serves as a venue for various events and gatherings.
Airey Park is also part of the Adopt a Park program, with Homebush Boys High School taking responsibility for its maintenance and enhancement in collaboration with Strathfield Council. This partnership ensures that the park remains well-kept and continues to be a cherished space for the community.
For those looking to host social functions, Airey Park offers recreational areas available for hire. Whether it's a birthday celebration or a community gathering, these spaces provide the perfect setting for a memorable event.
Getting to Airey Park is convenient, with public transport options such as buses and trains easily accessible through the Trip Planner service. If you prefer to drive, parking is available on Bates Street and a large carpark can be accessed from Fraser Street near the Children's Centre.
As we enjoy the beauty and facilities of Airey Park, it is important to acknowledge and pay respect to the Wangal people, the traditional custodians of the land on which the park and Strathfield Council are located. We honor their rich history and the wisdom of the Elders, both past and present.
Come and experience the wonders of Airey Park, where recreational opportunities, community spirit, and natural beauty seamlessly intertwine.

"An excellent lung space in Homebush. The park is replete with a gazebo for birthday parties, BBQ stations, rolling greens and a well equipped and larger than average play area for kids. The play area is well covered by shade sails. There are picnic tables on the outer periphery for quite reading time away from screaming kids for those who prefer than. Other the other side of Airey Park is the Alan Davidson Oval with practice nets and locker rooms."
