About Gap Park
Welcome to Gap Park, a stunning coastal escarpment located on Sydney Harbour's South Head in the beautiful Woollahra Municipality of New South Wales, Australia. This establishment is not just a park, but a point of interest and tourist attraction that offers spectacular views of both the harbour and the ocean.
Gap Park is a must-visit destination for both international and national tourists, as well as local residents. Whether you are a part of a tour group, an independent visitor, or a nature enthusiast, this park has something for everyone. Many visitors enjoy walking along the park's pathways, taking in the breathtaking views of the harbour and the ocean. The park is also a popular spot for bird watching, whale watching, and spectating major harbour events.
One of the highlights of Gap Park is its rich history. The park is home to early fortifications, shipwreck relics, and disused gun placements from past wars. Exploring the park is like stepping back in time and experiencing the remnants of Australia's fascinating past.
One of the newest additions to Gap Park is the accessible pathway along the historic tramway route. This pathway, which measures two metres wide, is pram-friendly and perfect for families or anyone needing a bit of extra space. As you walk along the pathway, you'll be treated to a unique experience, passing through a bushland rock escarpment and an exotic rainforest gully. You'll also come across a raised timber boardwalk that protects the prominent Fig tree roots near the southern end of the park.
Seating has been installed along the pathway, allowing visitors to rest and take in the magnificent views of the Harbour Bridge and the tranquil surroundings of Gap Park. To help you navigate the park and discover interesting sights along the way, be sure to check out the Gap Park Tramway trail map.
Getting to Gap Park is easy, with bus and ferry services available to Watsons Bay. So, whether you're a nature lover, history enthusiast, or simply looking for a peaceful place to relax and enjoy the beauty of Sydney Harbour, Gap Park is the perfect destination for you. Come and experience the magic of this iconic Australian landmark.
Reviews of Gap Park
"Gap Park has spectacular views of both the harbour and the ocean. At Gap Park, there is a remembrance to Lieutenant Grieve, a Special Service Officer who was killed in February 1900 at the Battle of Paardeberg. When we visited, it was raining and we could have only limited look around. Though it appears to be beautiful place."
"It is a MUST SEE. I've got breathless at all moments with so gorgeous views. You can feel the life beating you At the end of the day you can enjoy a beautiful sunset"
"Such great place to see nice view. Can understood why the name of this location is gap park."
"Beautiful view. The sandstone cliffs are amazing. Sad that it's a place where people who have depression issues come to jump off the cliffs. They do have lots of security cameras and also direct phone lines for help at the location."
