"I felt like the security and one of the floor staff were observing me to see if I was stealing. In one of my visits, an extremely rude guard aggressively blocked my way while leaving the store and demanded in a harsh tone to open my plastic bag to check if I had stolen anything. I definitely felt I was racially profiled (I'm Indian). Never had this experience in any other branch of Chemist Warehouse."

"Last Monday a friend and I came in here for some makeup and a toothbrush. Security guard followed us around and watched us while we looked at makeup, then when I left to get the toothbrush, he waited a few minutes and then came over to me very quickly, looking very suspicious of me, then watched like a hawk as we continued looking at makeup. We paid, and he physically blocked us from leaving and asked to search my friends bag, which he did very thoroughly. He accused her of stealing something they don’t even sell, and then when it came time to search me, I had my bag open, and he insisted that I remove my books and everything from my bag, and searched every pocket of the bag, including one that was literally empty. I wound up holding about ten kilos of stuff from my bag (not even kidding) and then he was very impatient when I put them back in. Then he searched every pocket of my JACKET. My jacket has about sixteen pockets, most of which are very large. He made me remove books and empty shopping bags and an entire 1.5L waterbottle so he could see there was nothing else. And then he insisted that I empty my smaller pockets. One of them was literally only just big enough to hold my keys and he had me take them out too. I don’t think that’s even legal. Then he told me I was “bulky” and let me go. Overall, not a bad store, but that guy was creepy"

"I understand that theft is an issue, but there is no good reason that I’m constantly followed by security. I live around and am a regular customer, if I didn’t steal something the 4th time, I’m not going to steal on the 14th. Even if you bought something the day before, you’ll still be followed. Staff are really nice and helpful, but there are so many other chemists close by, I would give this one a miss."
