The school was founded by Joann, who completed her First degree of Reiki in 1988 under the guidance of master the Rev Beth Grey. At the time, Joann was working as an assistant director of nursing at a Nursing home in the south of Sydney. Encouraged by her staff, she decided to pursue Reiki as a way to enhance the well-being of her patients.

To her surprise, Joann discovered that applying Reiki to her patients helped alleviate many illnesses. This sparked her curiosity and led her to continue her studies, completing Reiki II in 1989. This journey of self-discovery prompted Joann to delve into various fields, ranging from hypnosis to psychology.

In 1997, Joann nursed her dying mother, which further deepened her understanding and practice of Reiki. This personal experience reinforced her belief in the healing power of this unique Japanese energetic technique.

At the Australian School of Reiki, we understand that every student is an individual with different circumstances. Therefore, we offer classes through various methods to accommodate different learning preferences. Whether you prefer one-on-one sessions, group learning, or online courses, we can tailor our approach to suit your needs. Our flexibility ensures your success in becoming a Reiki channel.

Our classes can be taken in person or online, and you have the freedom to choose the timing between certificate levels. However, to practice Reiki professionally, completion of all three tiers of Reiki is required.

All graduates receive a certificate from our certified trainer, Joann, who is also a registered nurse with qualifications in counseling and hypnotherapy. Her expertise in the industry provides students with a solid foundation of knowledge and skills.

Insurance coverage for Reiki practitioners is available through A J Gallaher paramedical insurers with proof of completion of Reiki levels 1, 2, and 3. Additionally, students can join the IICT association to become insured.

If you choose to stay at our Sydney office, we offer accommodation options for those completing the entire system of Reiki 1, 2, and 3 in a package deal. This intensive program can be completed in just five days.
