Welcome to Toko Restaurant, located at its new home on George Street in Sydney's CBD. Previously based in Surry Hills, Toko has been a pioneer in modern Japanese dining since 2007, earning multiple awards along the way. Our restaurant specializes in contemporary Japanese Izakaya cuisine, fusing Australia's finest fresh produce with a stunning contemporary design.
When we first opened our doors in 2007, Toko revolutionized the concept of Izakaya dining with our "less is more" philosophy. We believe in the seamless integration of food, drink, service, design, and most importantly, our dedicated team of individuals who have contributed to our success over nearly two decades.

"First time attending since they moved from Surry Hills. Location is great and so easy to get to by train, tram or any mean of transport. Went in the evening to celebrate a pre birthday, birthday dinner and it was amazing. We had the tasting menu so that we get a chance to taste a variety of dishes and we were pleasantly impressed with both the flavours and variety. Additionally it was very well priced compared to other set menu restaurants of the same cuisine. Big shout out to our amazing waitress Rassa for making our night special"
"Delicious Japanese restaurant in the heart of the city. The sushi was absolutely delicious my favourite was the spicy tuna maki - the tuna melted in your mouth and the chilli mayo sauce combined perfectly with the fatty tuna. The eggplant tempura was crispy on the outside and soft and tender on the inside."

"If you’re looking for authentic Japanese cuisine who take pride in their produce I’d probably go somewhere else. Pricing is fine but food was imo disappointing in general. Wait staff were largely nice and attentive service Sushi rolls were nice flavour but fell apart Sashimi was not nice or quality full stop O-toro that I ordered was seared and marinated which simply befuddled me…."
