About Bilarong Playground
Welcome to Bilarong Playground and Reserve in North Narrabeen, Australia! This establishment is not your ordinary playground; it is a true hidden gem that offers a plethora of exciting and unique features. From breathtaking views to exceptional play equipment and mesmerizing stone sculptures of mythical creatures, Bilarong Playground is a place that will leave you in awe.
Let's start with the stunning stone sculptures that adorn the playground. These magnificent creations, including snoozing dragons, secret doorways, and old men, add a touch of magic and wonder to the surroundings. You and your children will be captivated by their beauty and charm.
During our recent visit to Bilarong Playground, we had an amazing time. The weather was perfect, the serene lake was inviting, and the kids had a blast playing. We even brought our folding chairs to relax and soak in the beauty of the surroundings.
However, we must warn you that if you have adventurous little ones who are not yet safe around water, this playground might be a bit nerve-wracking. While there is a securely fenced area with equipment for young kids, most of the playground is not fenced and is within close proximity to the lake and a busy road. Parents of energetic children, be cautious!
This playground is divided into two halves. The first half features basic equipment for young children in a shaded and fenced play area. The second half is where the real adventure begins. Here, you'll find a fantastic sandpit/dry creek bed with rocks and sculptures to climb over. It's a haven for creative and imaginative play for both kids and adults. There's also a wooden bridge, though sadly without its own troll, and other play equipment such as spicas, a huge space net, and a roundabout. Shade is abundant, thanks to the surrounding casuarina trees.
If you're planning a day out, Bilarong Playground has BBQ facilities and picnic tables on the reserve. Just remember to bring your own shade on a hot day. The only downside is that the toilets are located across the other side of the playground, which can be a bit inconvenient.
As a mother, I can say that I would have had a challenging time here when my kids were younger and wilder. But now that they are older and wiser, we all enjoy visiting Bilarong Playground. I love the views, and they have a blast climbing and playing on the equipment. The sandpit is particularly fantastic!
In addition to the playground, there is a long cycleway that passes through the reserve. If you're feeling adventurous, you can even hire kayaks on Narrabeen Lagoon and kayak your way to the playground for a fun-filled day.
If you're looking for more family-friendly spots in the area, there's another excellent playground at Berry Reserve in Narrabeen. It's fully enclosed and conveniently located beside Tramshed Cafe. And don't forget to check out the short video of Bilarong Playground on our website to get a glimpse of the whole place.
For those wondering about the safety of the lake for kids to play in, it is accessible from the main playground area, but we recommend against it. The lake has weed and is not suitable for swimming. The best area for water play is where the cafes are off Pittwater Road, where you can also find kayak hire. The toddler playground, on the other hand, is fenced and very safe.
Hello Sydney Kids is thrilled to have you here, and we hope you enjoy exploring all the wonderful family-friendly attractions that our beautiful city has to offer.

Reviews of Bilarong Playground
"Large playground. Not crowded at all. Nice beachside view with plenty of fishing spots. Only downside is parking coz no free parking around."
"I don't know how it can be over 4 stars. That's completely ridiculous that the parking cost $10 per hour and $40 per day. Unless you want to pay that costly parking, then you better not go there. By the way, I don't think the council love visitors. Don't go there if you have better options."
"With million dollar views, a easy walk 8km track, bbq areas, kayaking, fishing and a great fitness station, actually the best one i have seen so far. I recommend this park to anyone who wants to relax and have a great day.... it's best in summer when you and your children can swim in clear calm waters."
"A decent kids' playground located alongside Narrabeen Lake and the bicycle track. There are also some picnic tables where you can sit. There is a shaded, fenced area with some equipment for the younger kids, and some climbing ropes and other equipment outside for the older kids. There are some pretty cool rock carvings, too. There is good parking available of up to 12 hours in the carpark, which is paid or free for Northern Beaches resident parking permit holders. There are a few public toilets available next to the carpark, but they were grotty when we were there, albeit during the Christmas break."
"Lovely family friendly space with plenty of room. The running/bike track dissects the park so have to keep an eye out for the joggers and ear open for bike bells when crossing the track. The playground is tree covered and very popular. Great for kayaking/paddling/fishing.Parking is $40 for the day. There is a fresh water refill fountain and toilets but no cafe's particularly close."
