At Bombay on Bay, we take great pride in our rich heritage and culture, which spans three generations in the hospitality industry. It all began with my grandfather, Shankar Lal Khatri, who started his journey in 1945 at The Oberoi Cecil Hotel in Shimla, India. He then continued his career at The Ashok Hotel in New Delhi from 1955 to 1979, leaving behind a legacy of exceptional service and culinary expertise.
Following in my grandfather's footsteps, my father, Sudan Khatri, joined Hyatt Regency Hotels in 1987 and worked there until 2004. His experience and passion for hospitality were then brought to Australia, where he laid the foundation for our family's venture.
Now, it is my turn to carry on the family tradition and bring the authentic taste of India to the vibrant city of Port Melbourne. At Bombay on Bay, we strive to create an inviting atmosphere where our guests can indulge in the flavors and aromas of Indian cuisine.

Reviews
"Great flavours. Food beautifully presented. Prices more expensive than Aagamaan which is also very good. A nice looking bar area. Been here 3 times. The first two times were better. Maybe the cost of living crisis is affecting the quality as felt there were less ingredients in all the mains, particularly the mixed vegetables, there were only 2 and did not accurately reflect the menu."
"Undoubtedly great ambience and I liked the presentation. 3 stars because they hardly have anything on the menu that says vegan. I had to personally ask them to cook something vegan because nothing on the menu was vegan. I guess I ordered onion bhajis for starters and they tasted really good. For mains they made some dal and that was just too bland. I believe they should include some vegan dishes on the menu soon."
"Authentic and delicious. Ankit (owner) and his team were super polite. We ordered the Chicken Biryani, Paneer Tikka, Daal Makhani and Garlic naan. Each dish was really nice and excellent portion sizes. The daal was a reminder of the perfect home cooked meal. Thanks for the hospitality. We will be back!"
"If you are craving for the typical Indian flavours this is the place! I won’t say its authentic because they try to accommodate all taste palate and respect the location. If you ask for Punjabi style you will not be disappointed."
