About the Business
Welcome to Rhodes Foreshore Park, a stunning establishment located at Shoreline Drive in Rhodes, Australia. This park is not just your ordinary recreational area, but a point of interest and a must-visit tourist attraction in the City of Canada Bay.
The City of Canada Bay takes pride in providing and maintaining over 45 high-quality and innovative playgrounds across the city. From smaller play spaces to larger playgrounds like McIlwaine Reserve, Timbrell Park, and Queen Elizabeth Park, there is something for everyone to enjoy.
In 2019, the council adopted the Let's All Play Strategy, which aims to make the play spaces in the City of Canada Bay more inclusive. This strategy sets the direction for the future provision and management of playgrounds and environments within the area.
One of the initiatives under this strategy is the 'Friends of the Park' program. This program aims to create a strong sense of community ownership and active involvement in the management of selected parks within the City of Canada Bay. Members of the 'Friends of Cabarita Park' and 'Friends of Livvi's Place' regularly attend meetings, visit the parks to identify maintenance issues, and help attract more people to these special places.
If you are interested in becoming a 'Friend of the Park - Livvi's Place in Timbrell Park,' you can contact the council at 9911 6555 or email council@canadabay.nsw.gov.au. Additionally, if you have a green thumb and want to contribute as a volunteer gardener, refer to Council's Cabarita Heritage Garden - Volunteer Gardens for more information.
Cabarita Park, one of the City of Canada Bay's showpiece parks, is a 10-hectare park located on the Parramatta River. It features a heritage pavilion, ferry wharf, children's playground, picnic facilities, remnant bushland, a swimming center, marina, restaurant, and grassy areas with breathtaking river views. The park is a popular destination for various activities such as walking, cycling, picnics, informal ball games, and gatherings with family and friends. Water-based activities like swimming, rowing, and boating are also enjoyed in or from the park. Furthermore, the park hosts ceremonies, community events, picnics, races, film shoots, and children's parties.
Cabarita Park holds significant local, state, and national heritage value. It was once a popular pleasure garden in the 1880s and is home to the Federation Pavilion and memorials dedicated to the fallen in World War II and rower William Beach.
Livvi's Place, Australia's first all-abilities playground, is located in Timbrell Park and was named the best play space in the country by Parks and Leisure Australia in 2010. This ground-breaking playground was developed to reduce barriers for those with special needs, allowing children of all abilities to play together.
Peg Paterson playground, named after a respected member of the Rhodes community, is another neighborhood playground developed as part of the Rhodes Urban Renewal program. It offers a range of recreational opportunities for both active and passive users.
The City of Canada Bay is committed to creating a child-safe community and advocating for the rights of children and young people. Our policies and procedures aim to prevent harm to children, identify and report any harm, and respond appropriately to disclosures or suspicions of harm.
As we enjoy the beauty of Rhodes Foreshore Park, let us also acknowledge and pay respect to the traditional custodians of the land, the Wangal people of the Eora nation, who were the first inhabitants of this area.
Come and experience the beauty, inclusivity, and recreational opportunities that Rhodes Foreshore Park and the City of Canada Bay have to offer. Complete our online survey to provide us with your feedback on Livvi's Place or to become a 'Friend of the Park.'
