About McKenzie Reserve
Welcome to McKenzie Reserve, a stunning establishment located in Yarra Glen, Victoria, Australia. As a picturesque park and point of interest, McKenzie Reserve is not only a tourist attraction but also a hub for various activities and services.
One of the notable features of McKenzie Reserve is its commitment to community engagement. Here, you can easily find information about waste collection days and guidelines for what can be put out for collection. Additionally, the institution encourages visitors to share their feedback and ideas on current projects, allowing them to actively shape the Yarra Ranges community.
For those interested in arts and crafts, McKenzie Reserve offers workshops led by experienced tutors Janet Duncan and Cathy Ennis. These workshops cover a wide range of artistic endeavors, from creating bowls and teapots to crafting unique gifts and sculptures. Whether you're a beginner or a seasoned artist, these workshops provide a nurturing environment for your creative expression.
Families and children are also well catered to at McKenzie Reserve. The institution provides a booklet designed to guide children through the National Photographic Portrait Prize 2022 exhibition. With reading clues, fun facts, and space for imaginative responses, this booklet connects young minds to the stories depicted in the photographs. Additionally, the Art Cart offers a free drop-in activity where children can engage in cut and paste projects related to the exhibition.
McKenzie Reserve is not just about cultural experiences; it also aims to address environmental concerns. The institution supports initiatives like the Food Organics and Garden Organics (FOGO) collection, which promotes waste reduction and composting. Starting from October 2, 2023, garden clippings and food scraps, including meat and bones, can be placed in the FOGO bin for weekly collection. By converting this waste into compost, McKenzie Reserve contributes to reducing harmful greenhouse gases.
In addition to these services, McKenzie Reserve is involved in various community projects. From seeking feedback on repurposing underutilized spaces to working with the community to improve town centers, Yarra Ranges Council actively engages with residents to create a vibrant and inclusive environment.
At McKenzie Reserve, we recognize and acknowledge the Traditional Owners and Custodians of the land, the Wurundjeri and other Kulin Nations. We pay our respects to all Elders, past, present, and emerging, who have played an integral role in shaping our region. Together, we proudly share the responsibility of caring for Country.
Come and explore the immersive experience of McKenzie Reserve, where you can connect with the rich food, wine, culture, and scenery of the Yarra region. Whether you're taking a leisurely stroll along the 39-kilometer walking track through the Dandenong Ranges or participating in community-driven projects, McKenzie Reserve offers something for everyone.
