Bua Ji Indian Restaurant
About the Business
Welcome to Bua Ji Indian Restaurant, the best place in Melbourne to experience the flavors of authentic Indian cuisine. Located in the picturesque Diamond Creek, our establishment is known for its attention to detail, from the exquisite taste of our dishes to the traditional cutlery we use.
Step into our elegant and inviting atmosphere, perfect for intimate dinners, lively parties, or special ceremonies. Bua Ji offers a luscious variety of cuisines that recreate the magic and taste of Indian food. Indulge in our signature dishes, such as the tender range chicken marinated overnight and cooked in a clay oven, then simmered in a silky tomato sauce. Or try our roasted marinated chicken cooked with tomatoes, cashew nuts, and a cream-based sauce, complemented by diced onions and capsicum.
For those who prefer beef, our diced grass-fed beef is slow-cooked in a tangy and fiery sauce, enriched with fresh ground spices. And no Indian meal is complete without the beloved palak paneer, a North Indian dish featuring smooth spinach gravy and cottage cheese. We also offer Rajasthani special lamb, cooked with a variety of masalas and the best of red chili, as well as a nicely spiced lamb curry with fresh spinach, green chilies, and aromatic herbs.
At Bua Ji, we believe in the love of food, and our chef Preet embodies this philosophy. From her humble beginnings as a cleaner in a small country town restaurant, she has risen to become the mastermind behind our exclusive and colorful dishes. With over 9 to 10 years of experience in various cuisines, Chef Preet has honed her skills to transform ordinary ingredients into gastronomic delights. Her deep-rooted Indian traditions, combined with her Western cooking skills, result in a unique and unforgettable dining experience.

"As a parent there is nothing more wonderful than seeing the look on your child's face when they can make that first Father’s Day breakfast for you. The look of accomplishment and pride gets you through the inevitable food poisoning that surely follows. Imagine then, having an owner of establishment present you with their food with that same joy and anticipation but without the subsequent illness. Simple, delicious, scrumptious, tasty and luscious is the claim on the menu. Maybe but let’s see. They genuinely seem to care what you think of every dish, and it does not let you down in any way. We showed an extraordinary lack of bravery with our mains getting the Chicken Tikka Masala and Lamb Saag Wala. I know this is a bit boring but a new Indian restaurant I historically will always approach with caution. We got some Pappadams with the freshly cooked to order Garlic Naan to accompany and then commissioned some assistance with ordering an entrée. We were recommended the Gol Gappa (Ball of heaven’s crispy puffed ball that is filled with veg salsa & served with flavoured sauce as per the menu) so went with that also. The entrée was probably a bit too big which is a weird complaint (6 puffy balls between two) but was delicious, nonetheless. The Tikka Masala and the Saag Wala were absolutely on point and the meat in both incredibly tender. The standout was the Garlic Naan, however. Left us in no doubt that it was freshly cooked in the tandoor and you could go to Bua Ji for this alone. The atmosphere was taking its cues from Indian street food. The décor is tacky and there is a massive projector playing some type of Indian karaoke barely a metre from us. There is also some a peculiar mural all over the opposing wall and the restaurant which itself in in a dingy corner of a small shopping strip. In short it was perfect lol. Lovely food with gracious hosts. It’s a 4.9 stars because it genuinely deserves it. Get yourself down there and order a ton of that Garlic Naan!!!!!"
"We have dined in and done take away. Not only we think is the best take away in Diamond Creek, the staff makes you feel cared for and they are super warm. We always get a fish dish, and they finish cooking it just as we arrive so it doesn't get soggy. Thanks again Bus Ji"
"Provided an excellent catering service for a birthday gathering! The food was a big hit and made for a special night! Big thank you to Jay and the rest of the staff at Bua Ji! One of our all time favourite restaurants!"
"Authentic butter chicken. If you love Indian food the place is highly recommended. We had such amazing time. Very organised and the service was very polite."
"Must try Indian cuisine. It made me nostalgic of a little family run Indian restaurant from my home town. Welcoming and attentive service start to finish. The food we ate, both vegetarian and meat dishes had immense depth of flavour. You could taste the time and care that had gone into making it. I can’t wait to try more of the menu and see how they change my mind about how ‘authentic Indian’ food should taste. Everyone says that, but this is the real deal. Yum"
