"The best Indian food I believe I’ve ever had here. It has been open since the 1980’s. My family has enjoyed eating at this wonderful restaurant my whole life. Highly recommend trying it out."

"The name Shalimar is such a beautiful name, belonging to a love story! It is a shame that the cuisine doesn't reflect this, the food is below average, and very bland, the daal was not tarka daal, there was no masala used, and the bbq platter wasn't fresh, and the food is not flavorful! the naan was very dry and also tasted stale, the only item we enjoyed was the sparkling water. I do suggest this restaurant lower their prices also, as the cost is not worth the food or the dining experience. I would like to also say they should hire someone who knows how to prepare desi-style food, as this is not it! If you wish to experience bad tasteless food, overly priced; that isn't even close to good Indian ( desi ) cuisine, then this would be the place to try. Honestly save your money and prepare at home."

Top-notch Indian food, very attentive and helpful staff with a friendly and conversational approach that seems to be lost these days in the restaurant industry. The waiters knew the food and menu inside out and were obviously very knowledgeable about their dishes. Also the recommendation they offered to me after listening about what sort of thing I go for was spot-on. You cannot go wrong with this place. Melbourne's longest-running curry house - and you can see why."

"I liked the open kitchen here but that was about it. It's been open for a million years though so the westernised palettes of Brighton clearly enjoy this subtly flavoured Indian offering. The quality was sound but the butter chicken and garlic naan were just a bit bland for my liking"

"We are new to the area and popped in on the off chance as we were passing. Seriously impressed by the food and the warm atmosphere and service. We were advised dishes that could be suited to dietary requirements and they were delicious. The restaurant has really calm and cosy vibes and I can't wait to try again."
