Executive chef Martino Pulito, who hails from Martina Franca in the Italian region of Puglia, brings his rich culinary heritage to our kitchen. Growing up, Martino fondly remembers the Sunday lunches prepared by his nonna, mother, and sister, where the entire family gathered to indulge in delicious meals.
From a young age, Martino developed a passion for cooking, learning his mother's favorite recipes that focused on simple yet flavorful ingredients sourced from neighboring farms and seaside villages. He further honed his skills at I.P.S.S.A.R. Castellana Grotte in Bari before moving to Milan, where he gained valuable experience as a Senior Chef De Partie at AFM Banqueting.
Since arriving in Sydney, Martino has made a significant impact on the local culinary scene, working at esteemed establishments such as Jamie's Italian, La Vucciria, Pasta Emilia, and The Morrison. Cucina Porto is the culmination of Martino's childhood memories, recreating the warm and inviting atmosphere of his family table, and bringing to life the flavors of his beloved Puglia.

"Cucina Porto is a great restaurant! All the pasta dishes taste authentic, full of flavour and quality meat used. The pizza is amazing, starting from the bread that is cooked in woodfire oven. They also cater to coeliacs and are aware of the need to change the pasta water. They have great drinks as well, I had a melon cello which I can rarely find anywhere. Staff are great and good location."
"My family’s had dinner here a couple of times now. We’ve enjoyed the food and service each time. The staff are really good, and accommodating. Service is excellent. They’re very attentive too. The food is also excellent. There’s something for everyone, and everything tastes good, although too salty for our palate. My favourite is the Brussel Sprouts. My only complaint is that the lighting is dark, although I suppose that’s pretty common in most restaurants these days."
"Amazing! Fantastic Italian dishes, served fresh and in a beautiful atmosphere. Pasta was perfect - Al Dente! Good sized portions and reasonably priced for the food and location. Dishes are not too big, good enough to fill you up for a lighter lunch or dinner. Perfect size to be complimented with bread/salad sides, or entree and or dessert. Service was really good and the head chef really knows what he is doing. You can tell he cares and takes pride in his food. This is experienced in every mouthful. Most of the staff are not Italian but the waitstaff do a great job with their service and the chefs with their cooking. Most importantly, the head chef is Italian and oversees everything. He appears to be in great control of the kitchen, what is served and how it is prepared and goes out to customers. This provides consistency and great food everytime. Great wine selection, amazing Italian wines as well as other beverages. Coffee and espresso is strong, well made and perfecto! House bread and Olive Tepanade is incredible and highly recommended!"
