Reviews of The Astor Theatre
"Classic films in classic surroundings. It doesn't get better. Heratage listed with regular special events. So exciting to smell the hot popcorn as I wait to be let in for the next session."
"I have come here to chew bubblegum and review The Astor Theatre. And I'm all out of bubblegum. This is a great place for movie lovers and easily one of the best things to do in Melbourne. You and your friends will be saying let's all go to the lobby to get ourselves a treat. I personally recommend the choc tops."
"Came here for the first time to see a special screening of John Waters’ cult classic Polyester. What a stunningly beautiful theatre! Genuinely worth visiting just to see the architecture and historical design elements alone, but I got the impression from just the one visit that this theatre has developed an amazing friendly and inclusive community around it."
"Had a great night there for the opening of the Spanish film festival. I was surprised that the popcorn was only $6 - bargain! It's a beautiful old theatre and it was very clean! Rows are pretty narrow, so sit by the aisle if you think you'll need to run to the loo. Only one sink in the bathrooms meant lining up for the toilet at the end of the film, and then lining up again for the sink."
"Great cinema experience, the building is beautiful and has that old art deco feel. The chairs are rather uncomfortable though. There's only 1 screen so there's plenty of room for the audience. The snack package I got was well priced."
