"The new renovated veniew replacing Giant Dwarf. The interior of the theater looks fresh. It has the vibes of the underground retro theater. They have added the balcony with leather 2 seater couches. The bar is nice, although it does get a little crowded at times. On the plus side, the liquor license was extended to work at late hours. Overall, it was a wonderful upgrade to the much loved queer friendly venue. The true home ground for Queer Stories."
"A beautiful theatre, a great entertainment and comedy show with a great atmosphere. Highly recommended."
"What a great little theatre. Loved the murals on the building. Attended Blanc en Blanc last night. The show was amazing however, I am only reviewing the theatre. Firstly, the seating was atrocious. Ringside $136. Plonked at a share table with people you’ve never met. Squashed in like sardines. If you go to the show just buy a general admission ticket $80 as there is no advantage to the upgrade. Moving on to the drink prices. Extortionate $24 for a cocktail and $129 for a bottle of Moët. Our champagne was knocked over, glasses smashed and the staff although attentive in cleaning it up didn’t replace it for us. Very disappointing at $129! Also, there is no food available so ensure you eat before you go. Rug up too. There didn’t appear to be any heating. If you are light sensitive then I would mention it to the staff as we had a spotlight in our eyes the entire night making it difficult to watch some of the acts. Had some trouble hailing a taxi after the show. It’s quite a walk to public transport."
"Quirky little venue with an intimate feel and a wonderful vibe. Thoroughly enjoyed the Blanc De Blanc show with easy views of the stage. The bar service was excellent with great cocktails and loved the fact that they used real cocktail glasses. It made the night!"
"We saw Blanc de Blanc Encore at The Grand Electric a week ago and it was absolutely amazing. The theatre is down a little alley between two buildings - you’d totally miss it if not intentionally looking which is definitely part of the charm. Once you walk down the alley it opens into a courtyard in front of the theatre with French-themed murals on the walls; it has a very fun feel and is totally different to the larger theatres in Sydney. There’s a bar in the courtyard as well as access to the toilets. Once inside the atmosphere is amazing however there’s no fixed seating - for Blanc de Blanc Encore you purchased tickets based on zones and then it was a ‘first in, first served’ seating model where if you arrived early you’d get the best seats within that zone (not sure if this is the case for all productions shown here). The seating was very squishy - the rows were very close together and the chairs typical wooden dining chairs so they were uncomfortable by the end of the evening (something to be aware of if this may bother you). We didn’t let this affect our night however it was difficult any time someone needed to leave their seat, as trying to walk between the rows was quite impossible. Lots of broken glasses during the night as people tried to walk past (but a very attentive theatre team who cleaned these up as soon as they were able). Again not sure if the seating arrangement is typical for all productions but wanted to point it out as something to be aware of incase it is. The theatre is a fair distance from public transport (10 min walk from Redfern station / 15 min walk from Central station); there are quiet side streets nearby for parking or Uber is the next best option to get there if you’re not looking to walk a fair distance. Overall we had an amazing night and would definitely return for another show in the future!"
