The Imperial Erskineville
About the Business
Welcome to The Imperial Erskineville, a beloved institution and icon of the LGBT community in Australia. Located at 35 Erskineville Road, in the heart of Erskineville, this bar, establishment, restaurant, and nightclub has been serving up good times since 1983.
After a recent renovation and a whole lot of love, The Imperial Erskineville reopened its doors in March 2018, showcasing a fresh new look while keeping the spirit of fun and inclusivity alive. We pride ourselves on being unique in style and diverse in culture, inviting you to join us for a night of drag, dining, and unforgettable performances in our Main Bar.
At The Imperial, we celebrate self-expression, creative individualism, and the power of music and dance. But we don't stop there. We also have a deep devotion to seriously good food and killer cocktails. Our Main Bar is the perfect place to indulge in delicious meals while enjoying the vibrant energy that fills the air.
If you're looking for a change of scenery, head up to our Rooftop Bar, a favorite among locals in the Inner West. With its immaculate vibes and mouthwatering pizzas from the renowned Pizza bros, the Rooftop offers the perfect setting for a slice, a spritz, and some revelry that you won't regret.
But the fun doesn't end there. In our Basement, The Imperial's party-loving soul shines brighter than ever. This space is a haven for live performances, DJs, and parties hosted by your favorite promoter groups. From BiCONIC to Dumpster Dive, Canned Fruit, Bearpit, Runway, and more, there's always something happening that will make you feel the love in our house.
At The Imperial Erskineville, we also take pride in acknowledging and honoring the traditional custodians of the land we now call Australia. We pay respect to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, particularly the Gadigal of the Eora Nation, who are the traditional custodians of this place we call Sydney. We recognize their strength, wisdom, and creativity, and we are committed to creating a space that is inclusive and welcoming to all.
Whether you're looking for a night of entertainment, a delicious meal, or simply a place to be yourself, The Imperial Erskineville is here to provide an unforgettable experience. Join us soon and become a part of our vibrant and diverse community.

"The rooftop pizza by Pizza Bros is such a vibe and they serve one of the best pizzas in Sydney IMO!! Woodfried perfection and the dough is hand stretched, so thin and so soft and fluffy!! The toppings are very unique and got vegan and vegetarian options too! Highly recommend getting the pizza from the brothers!!!"
"Don’t even bother going here the vibe is yuck and they seem to enjoy power trips. I have have been completely sober and spoke to in such a disgusting manner on more than one occasion and threatened to be refused entry. Security claims they watch how you act entering LOL okay so you watched me park my car and walk over? Such a shame could be a great venue if it didn’t have such military on the doors and in the general staff ruining the mood for everyone."
"Such a legendary venue. I didn’t actually know it still existed but my partner and I watched Priscilla a few weeks back and looked it up and surprised me. We had a couple drinks and some food and watched some drag shows. The food is good from what my partner told me, but vegetarian options are limited, I just had a bowl of chips. The drag show was fantastic and it felt special being in such an iconic venue."
"When in Sydney, we think the quintessential place for celebrating Pride is at the Imperial Erskineville. We went when we visited Sydney for World Pride. It has multiple areas inside including a main bar and a lounge, but we went to Priscilla’s restaurant. That’s where you can have some good food and cocktails, and can also take in one of their famous drag shows. But this is not just any drag bar, it was made famous in the classic film ‘The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert’. We attended a special drag presentation for World Pride and loved it and were surprised by the quality of the food and drinks served as well as the excellent service."
"One of the best queer pubs in Sydney. Loved the laid back vibe. Friendly staff. The restroom was clean and neat. No violent vibes neither shirtless stupid guys trying to get you. Definitely the best place to have a good night with your whole group of friends. ❤️"
