About the Business
Welcome to Sushi Union, located at Maroubra, Anzac Parade, 737. As an establishment, food, point of interest, and restaurant, we pride ourselves on offering a truly authentic sushi experience. Before diving into our exquisite menu, it's important to have a fundamental understanding of what sushi truly is.
Sushi is a highly creative and skillful cuisine that originated in Japan. It consists of raw and cooked fish, veggies, and rice seasoned with vinegar. At Sushi Union, we believe in preserving the traditional essence of sushi while incorporating modern twists to cater to diverse palates.
In the past, sushi referred to salty fish meals made with fermented rice across Asia. However, during the Edo era, it evolved into Edomae zushi, which is closer to the sushi we know and love today. Our menu reflects the best of both classic and contemporary preparation methods.
When you visit our restaurant, you'll find six different kinds of sushi available. Understanding these types will make deciphering our menu a breeze. Sashimi, one of the most popular dishes, consists of raw fish cut into long, rectangular slices called hira-zukuri. It is often accompanied by wasabi, soy sauce, and pickled ginger.
Nigiri sushi features rice seasoned with vinegar and topped with thin slices of raw fish. It is designed to be eaten with your hands, allowing you to fully experience the range of flavors the fish has to offer. Chirashi, meaning "scattered," is similar to sashimi but includes rice and various toppings selected by our skilled chefs.
Maki sushi is rolled and sliced into bite-sized pieces, with fillings wrapped in vinegar-seasoned rice and nori. Uramaki, on the other hand, has the rice on the outside of the nori, encasing the fillings. Both maki and uramaki offer a variety of toppings and sauces for dipping.
Lastly, temaki rolls feature nori rolled into a cone shape, filled with rice, veggies, and fish. These rolls are often consumed by hand due to their size.
At Sushi Union, we aim to provide a culinary journey that showcases the artistry and flavors of sushi. Whether you prefer traditional Japanese sushi or sushi prepared in the Western way, our menu caters to all tastes. Join us for an unforgettable dining experience where every bite is a testament to the rich history and innovation of sushi.

Reviews
"Best chicken teriyaki donburi I've eaten in Sydney, the sweet shiny glazing, the slight smoky smell of the grilled vegetables, perfect!"
"Delicious! The sushi rolls are massive for a very generous price! Planning to come back tomorrow!"
"Seller is very nice. Sushi and rolls are good. Ramen tastes not expensive. I would love it if they put more efforts on the ramen or it is just not to my liking."
