"Amazing 2 bedroom 2 bathroom absolutely can not fault the rooms or the service. Special shout out to Maddy at reception such a beautiful soul and ever so friendly. The staff are all helpful and nothing is ever too much. I don’t recommend the food / breakfast but there’s so many amazing places around it doesn’t effect my 5 stars! So close to CBD / south wharf DFOs and so easy with trams directly out the front or side of the hotel. Highly recommend and will definitely return!"

"Disappointing Experience at Shaddowplay Peppers: A Birthday Getaway Gone Wrong Rating: ★★☆☆☆ My recent two-night stay at Shaddowplay Peppers for a special birthday getaway was far from the enjoyable experience I had anticipated. Despite having previously stayed at this hotel without any issues, this time, several disappointments soured our overall experience. Upon arrival, we were informed that in addition to the $650 we had already paid for the two-night stay with breakfast included, we were required to pay a bond of $200, which would be refunded later. While I understand that it is a common practice for hotels to hold a small amount, such as $1, as a security deposit, being asked for a $200 bond was unexpected and not something we had budgeted for. The manager on duty mentioned it was their policy, but after our complaint, they reluctantly lowered the fee to $100. This inconsistency compared to our previous stays at Shaddowplay was surprising. To address the initial inconvenience, the manager tried to rectify the situation by providing us with two drink cards, which we appreciated. However, our room turned out to be exceptionally noisy. When we reported the issue to the reception, their response lacked any sense of apology, and we felt as though we were inconveniencing them. Eventually, they managed to relocate us to a quieter room, but the initial interaction left a negative impression. Our breakfast experiences were equally disappointing. On both mornings, we were handed menus without any explanation of how they worked or what our options were. We had to rely on nearby guests to provide us with information. When we received our breakfast, we requested butter for our toast, but the server took an astonishing 15 minutes to bring it, long after we had finished eating. The same scenario repeated itself the next morning, with no explanation of the menu and delays in service. Moreover, the eggs served were cold and undercooked. To our surprise, when we expressed our dissatisfaction, the waitress claimed that our meals were "taken care of," implying there would be no additional charges. However, when we checked out and returned to collect our luggage after enjoying a coffee at a nearby cafe, the receptionist presented us with a receipt from the restaurant, charging us for the two hash browns. We were told that the server's statement about everything being included was a mistake, and we were expected to pay. It was embarrassing to be asked for payment after checking out, especially when the mistake was not ours. This situation could have been avoided if the menu had been properly explained, and the inconvenience made us feel belittled. Not to mention advertising 10% off at the restaurant for Accor guests, which we didn’t receive. Losing a loyal customer is truly disheartening, and I have decided to cancel my Accor membership due to this disappointing experience, What was once a pleasant experience has now left a bitter aftertaste, and I am left questioning whether I will return to Shaddowplay Peppers in the future. I hope that Shaddowplay Peppers takes this feedback constructively and works towards improving their communication, customer service, and attention to detail. It is crucial for hotels to prioritize guest satisfaction, especially during special occasions and when handling billing matters accurately. Regaining the trust of previously loyal customers should be a priority for any establishment in the hospitality industry."

"We stayed at shadow play for 11 nights while my husband recovered from open heart surgery. There are a few things that really make this property standout. 1. The team here are super friendly. 2. Daily servicing of the appartments. ( Evrn unpacking the dishwasher. 3. The fantastic location, close to crown and the South Melbourne market. Even Aldi is only 5 minutes walk away. 4. They make some of the tastiest Potatoe hash with breakfast. Similar to a Swiss Rosti, yet different. Great for families and the business traveller. Lots of space. Just be aware to use the hotel lifts closest to reception as they are faster. Only stop a few floors. Will stay again with family."

"We had a wonderful 3 days here. The rooms were spacious, beds comfortable, shower was amazing, only downside was the bathroom was very tiny. Breakfast staff was amazing on Tuesday n Wednesday morning.. Thursday they were very average. Food was great on all 3 days. We found the location close to everything we needed. Would most certainly stay here again."
