Reviews of Q Station
"A beautiful resort in main Syd area with friendly and humorous staff. But it’s really creepy at night!"
"Well, lets just set the scene. $400 for one night in a 'Heritage accommodation'. The location would suggest that you would have a nice private room, in a bespoke historic location which has every need attended to, and for $400 you would expect that. But......nope. This has to be one of the most disappointing hotel stays I have ever encountered. Why? OK, let's list them all. Firstly, when you arrive you have to park your car in a public carpark OUTSIDE the location. That's annoying, but then even more annoying when there is a wedding function on and all the spots are taken. So, they then send you to the staff car park, guess what? Yes, all those spots are taken to so you end up parking on a grass verge within the Q Station area. That's ok, there is a full 24 hour shuttle service to make sure you get about the whole site easily. Oh, hold on, I'm afraid that when a wedding is on their priority is to ensure all wedding guests get in and out of the site. Hotel guests? Sorry guys, you'll just have to wait. So you have NO control over your site movements. Big tip, ask if a wedding is on, if the answer is YES, then say NO I'm not staying! What next, the room. A $400 room "Featuring stunning glimpses of our fabulous Sydney Harbour, this room is a queen bedroom with an ensuite and small refrigerator. French-style doors open out onto a relaxing furnished balcony space at Q Station.". Glimpses is correct, some rooms have fabulous views, other less so, just great views of local tress and bushland. Big tip, NEVER stay in rooms 5-8 in the P5 complex, they are very disappointing...for $400. I keep repeating this price as it is NOT worth it. Queen Bed....nope, not unless you get your Queen beds from Hobbit Land, they are Double at best. Room Fan, correct, but no air con and in this location in Summer/early Autumn you NEED Air Con, very uncomfortable. Now, look at the pictures on the site, the rooms do look nice, but you do not realise that you are but one of a line of rooms in the same balcony area, that is 6 rooms sharing the same balcony. $400 would give you privacy, this is not $400 privacy. Now, back to the shuttle, for you to get around the site and to get offsite you need the shuttle. The staff, to a fault, are really helpful, even telling us themselves that the transport situation is their biggest failing and that management don't seem to care enough to fix it. Hey, here is a solution, get some Golf Buggys!!! Then the hotel guests (NOT the wedding attendees) can have some personal attention and mobility which would be what their $400 pays for. Seriously, DO NOT pay $400 for this location, public can wander around as they like (so they get the same 'historic location' as you), the rooms are uncomfortable and I would get from a decent Backpacker hostel. Am I bitter about his? You can bet I am, this was for my wife's special birthday occasion and I feel I let her down, I believed the hype, I fell for the advertising, I wanted a special location. NEVER again and I never post this sort of review lightly, in fact I don't think I've ever written a review so scathing but you do NEED to know this. $400.......$400, you get $150 at best!!"
"Q Station is an amazing place in Sydney you can go there to relax on the beach and swim or jump of the jetty, buy something from the cafe or even stay there for a few nights in one of there cabins. It has good access by public transport with the ferry and the bus or the Q shuttle. All and all it is a great place to relax and learn a bit about the Quarantine Center."
