Reviews of Abey Hotel
"Enjoyed our stay. Our room was in an awkward spot, not the quietest area but we were too exhausted to care. Beds were clean, service friendly, food available, so all good. They provided a helpful service of keeping our luggage before we were able to check in officially, so we didn’t have to drag our bags all over town half the day."
"Love the Abey the staff are very friendly the food is great. The pool is perfect. This had become our regular hotel. We have gone to many but the Abey is great value for money. Always feel welcomed and they accomodate by giving us our fave room. Been their a few times and will definately go back."
"OK hotel, but a bit run down. The bright neon lights through reception and the elevators are trying to make the place fun and lively but it just feels a bit tacky. My fairly spacious double queen room was right next to the pool, and getting in and out was like walking through a sauna. Some kids were drinking in the alley outside and gave me a friendly wave through my ground floor window... awkward."
"Whilst the hotel was in a great location, some aspects of the operation of the hotel was disappointing: -not clear that the Abbey and the Cambridge were part of the same group, causing some confusion in our party prior to travel. -the $51 bond charged is a rip off and disappointing. The credit card provided at checkin would cover any incidents requiring re-imbursement. -when I enquired as to when the bond would be removed, I was advised 3-5 days, dependent the banks processes. The hotel offered to speed up the process, but that would require a fax to be sent to the bank. - A bond would normally be required to cover the minibar, however there is no minibar provided in the room. - Whilst generally the front desk staff were friendly, there was a manager on the front desk monday morning who seemed aloof and not wanting to be there. I saw him follow a lady coming out of the lift who was struggling with two suitcases, and he was pulling along an empty luggage trolley, there was no offer of assistance towards the guest. His response to request about the business centre was dismissive and dis-interested. -Process for leaving the carpark was confusing with no signage or instructions. As stated before, the best thing this property has going for it is the location. Management and Operations needs improvement."
"$5 for an hour of internet, go figure the math. Room decor felt a little budget, and toilets were extremely small. Parking is not free either and is very challenging for full sized vehicles. Location was good and staff is generally helpful. Meh... you can do better with other hotels in the city."
