"My family had a wonderful time here! Lots of fun and interesting history and a very knowledgeable and fun tour guide that was able to answer all of our questions. Beautifully kept with gorgeous views of Lough Gill (if you’re lucky you can walk down and catch the tour boat around the lake as well)"
"One of our coolest stops. The two running the place were awesome and accommodated us even though it was almost closing time. Even gave us the whole history of the castle so that we didn't have to read it."
"Its cash only at the castle, £5 each but we'll worth it. We actually didn't pay that as my partner and I had not enough cash in the car, but the friendly staff let us in discount so we didn't miss out. It was wet and windy but still a great day out, with an informative paper guide. Inside was a display of Irish homes and culture. The loos were clean and tidy with fresh flowers! Over all it was a fantastic was to end a camping trip by the most beautiful lake. I really do recommend you visit Lake Gill and the castle if you like that sort of thing."
"This was a superb value for money ey experience with a guided tour for the whole family, showing us original 1500's features and reused features in the building through the centuries. A castle built of another castle, with various salvaged and preserved features of the life at the time, including excavated Motte details with drain still very visible. An excellent example of great work and preservation by the OPW. Well worth a visit to see, and bring a picnic to make a day of it!"
"A small bit of history, there is a charge on entry, I think €5 for adults €3 for children and €13 for a family, there are other rates but these are all I really paid attention too. Its set on the beautiful Lough Gill and during the summer months you can get a boat ride from here too."
