"Nice friendly staff, good selection of necessities,we forgot some stuff at home (stayed in local hotel) & purchased all extras we needed"
"Golden Island is probably the one stop shopping venue that most people gravitate too if you need a good variety of things to buy under the one roof. I love the Town Centre but that lacks a super market and there's a fee for parking there whereas it's free at Golden island. As a creature of habit we usually go to Penny's, Dealz, Boots and Tesco. Food and beverage options are a little slim but what is there will fill the gap."
"This place is Massive. It is right next to the cinema. There is plenty of parking places for hundreds of cars around and it is free parking. Right next to the shopping centre is a huge park which is right next to the river. Inside the shopping centre there is a very large Tesco. There are plenty of other options for food as well like Burger, King and Costa. There's a very good bookshop called the book station right next to the Tesco. You can have a very good day out at the shopping centre."
"Dealz. You go in for a look around and come out with a basket full. Great for shampoos and toiletries and bits of stationery. Just watch out because there are more items priced at €2 and above than there used to be and you don't want a shock at the till. Prices are well marked on the shelves, though. I never use the self service checkouts cos you need assistant approval if you use your own bag and then again for a lot of sharp items, glues, etc. Gets a bit annoying."
"Golden Island Shopping Centre is a shopping centre located on the outskirts of Athlone, County Westmeath, Ireland. The centre was developed on the site of a former landfill by Owen O'Callaghan, Michael Tiernan and Tom Diskin. Aiming to attract more business to the Midlands Region of Ireland, the centre opened in October 1997,[1] and has gained a footfall of 65,000 a week. The shopping centre was sold to Tesco for €52 million in 2005, and it was registered on February 24, 2005.[2][3] Purchase by Credit Suisse Edit Tesco stated in June 2015 that they were considering selling the centre, and the building was purchased by Credit Suisse on March 23, 2016 for €43.4 million.[4] The centre contains 45 stores, ranging from clothing to health, mobile phone providers and a supermarket. Of the clothing, there is a large Penneys, as well as smaller units such as Diesel. There are many restaurants and cafés in the mall, including Costa Coffee, Burger King and Insomnia. At the eastern end of the mall is a large Tesco, selling food and clothes. The shopping centre also contains an IMC cinema, which opened in 1998 with six screens and a capacity of 871 seats.[5][6] #brunoemickporai #MichaelKruse #GoldenIslandShoppingCenter #Shopping #Athlone #Ireland"
