Roncalli B&B

"Sorry to give this a one star, Myself & my friend had booked in Roncalli house last Thursday the 16th Sept for 4 nights, when we arrived we asked to see the twin room we had booked , the lady that ran the B & B was lovely and the house very quaint , she showed us the room, we were not impressed, the minute we waked into it, there was a bad musty smell and dampness, we made an excuse and left as we could not sleep in a damp musty smelling room . So unfortunately had to give this a one star We were fortunate enough to get a overly place about 10 mins drive away"

"The room was absolutely filthy. Hair all over in the bathroom and the shower. It was our first experience not wanting to shower in b&b. Spider webs everywhere. The fridge was broken. Most importantly I smell strong body odor through the mattress. We just wanted to leave the place asap in the morning. We cancelled the breakfast and she handed us a bag of fruits. The bag must have been used for food garbage previous. Had orange peels and disgusting dirty bag with some fruits in. This place needs to close down. Nobody deserves this experience."

"I am sorry i paid 50 euro to stay here, in all my travels i dont think i had as bad , the bed smelled of sweat the duvet was soiled with something. I went to make tea at night, as the bed was dreadful and i coukdnt sleep, there was no cups no spoons no glass for a drink of water and at 1.30 there was one to ask... there was a foot stool to stand on to then climb into the bath for shower and same out , and with a visual disability i couldnt shower ...i went for breakfast which i couldn't eat, cornflakes tasted loke carboard and must of been there years .. the eggs were not much better ....the bread and coffee were good.... I found this B&B TO BE VERY SUBSTANDARD ... it needs a make over everywhere, and then it would be lovely....it is perfect near train station and round the corner from center of town ...such a pity... but when u cant get in a bed because it stinks of sweat ... well tgen it is not right to charge someone to sleep in it !!"

"Anne was a kind and gracious host. Our traditional Irish breakfast was great!! Her B&B was in the heart of Athlone - perfectly located. We were lucky to have found her place!"
