About Monicknew- Slieve Bloom Mountain’s track
Welcome to Monicknew-Slieve Bloom Mountain's track! Located in Monicknew, Co. Laois, Ireland, our establishment offers a unique and breathtaking experience in the heart of the Slieve Bloom Mountains.
The Slieve Bloom Mountains are a stunning natural landscape that connects the counties of Laois and Offaly. With gentle rolling hills and vibrant colors, this area is often overlooked and remains one of Ireland's best-kept secrets. As you explore the mountains, you'll come across charming villages that seem frozen in time, where locals are eager to share their stories and listen to yours.
Despite its peaceful and secluded atmosphere, the Slieve Bloom Mountains are conveniently located just over an hour from Dublin and Limerick, and two hours from Cork and Galway. This central position makes it an ideal base for visitors looking to explore other parts of Ireland while enjoying the beauty of the Slieve Bloom.
Did you know that the Slieve Bloom Mountains, along with the Massif Central in France, are the oldest mountains in Europe? Once towering at 3,700m, they have weathered over time and now stand at 527m. On a clear day, you can witness breathtaking views of the four ancient provinces of Ireland from their highest points.
