Respect
About the Business
Welcome to Respect, an institution located at Prussia Street. We are an establishment that aims to improve the lives of people with intellectual disabilities who are under the care of Avista, formerly known as the Daughters of Charity Disability Support Services. Our main focus is on enhancing the surroundings and promoting independence for our service users through capital building projects and groundbreaking research initiatives.
At Respect, we believe that every small action counts, and there are two easy ways you can support our cause. The first is by signing up for our email updates, where you can stay informed about our latest projects and initiatives. The second way is by sharing our message with your friends and colleagues, spreading awareness about the important work we do.
In addition to these actions, you can also attend our events or make a donation to further support our cause. We are excited to share with you our new fundraising objective, Project Haven. With this project, we aim to raise funds for the construction of a Children's Respite House in Annacotty, Co.
One of our recent events was the Annual Golf Classic held on Monday, October 9th, 2023 at the Golf Course at Luttrellstown Castle Resort. It was a fantastic event where participants could put their swing and drive to good use while supporting our cause.
We are grateful for the support we have received so far, including the success of our previous Golf Classic held on Monday, October 10th at Luttrellstown Castle. The beautiful weather, surroundings, and pristine course made it a memorable event.
We would like to express our gratitude to everyone who supported the RESPECT Project Eden Sensory Play Garden fundraising campaign. Thanks to your donations and support, we were able to realize this ambitious project, and the accessible, multi-purpose play and sensory garden is now enjoyed by our service users on a daily basis.
Our team would also like to extend our thanks to all those who participated in the RESPECT Golf Classic at Luttrellstown Golf Club. The fabulous surroundings made it a truly enjoyable event, and the numerous teams that took part contributed to its success.
Another special occasion was the RESPECT Charity Ball 2020 held at Fitzpatrick's Hotel in Killiney. We want to thank everyone who attended and made the night memorable. It was a truly special and enjoyable occasion.
We also had the pleasure of having Mark Cagney as the MC for our 9th RESPECT Christmas Lunch at the Shelbourne Hotel. His entertaining presence kept all the guests engaged throughout the afternoon. The style and elegance of the event were truly remarkable.
Lastly, we want to acknowledge the eight Transition Year students from St Dominic's and St Declan's who visited our RESPECT Shop in Prussia Street. They worked on dressing two mannequins as part of the RESPECT School Enrichment program. We appreciate their contribution and support.
Thank you for visiting our webpage, and we hope you will continue to support Respect in our mission to improve the lives of people with intellectual disabilities. Together, we can make a difference.

"I volunteer there it is great value and friendly place to work and visit"
"A place where you can by second hand items of very good quality, you get a wide selection of items, books, electrical items, ornaments, clothes, shoes etc, your payment goes for charity work, I was able to buy some old Audio Records. Help while you purchase. Very Freindly staff"
"I’I am a regular customer and very disappointed today when visiting the shop . I had spent €36 last time I was there and had bought a jacket for €8 which I was told when I returned home that it wasn’t very nice on me so I thought I’d go back with my receipt to change it for another jacket that would look well . To my surprise and disappointment I was told there is a no exchange policy in place . !!!!! I was also taken back by the way I was spoken to or I should say spoken down to !! I’d said if I’d bought the jacket in any retail shop in dublin and had my receipt I would get an exchange and they have to buy their stock unlike a charity shop who depend on the public’s Kind donations . I wanted to highlight the no exchange policy as I never knew it until today . I also can’t believe that I was actually spoken down to and shown no respect at all !!!! I had experience the lack of respect for customers in the past and put it down to an isolated incident but from reading some of the reviews here it seems it can be a regular occurrence! On one occasion there was a child with me who had a skin condition and I heard one lady say to another at the till that the items the child touched would need a rub of disinfectant . I removed the child from the shop for fear of her getting upset by the comments . I am very aware of all the wonderful work the Daughters of Charity do and I’m sure the nuns would not be impressed with some of the staff at the shop treating customers with a lack of respect !!! I do have to say there is one lady from Navan who is such a lovely person and treats everyone with kindness and respect and she needs to be mentioned!! I was very disappointed in the way I was treated today . If I’d bought the jacket anywhere else there would be no problem in exchanging it with a receipt in hand . I left the shop and brought the jacket to NCBI and donated it there where customers are treated with the upmost respect at all times and their exchange policy is good !!! Needles to say I won’t be returning to the RESPECT Charity shop ever again !!"
"I am a real charity shop lover. However this shop can be very infuriating. When you go to the checkout the prices are randomly guessed by the staff. Most items are very over priced. Little to no price labeling on items. The staffs manners leave a lot to be desired. I have personally witnessed the women behind the counter looking down their nose at customers. I have also personally witnessed the staff being extremely rude to foreign customers. The amount of gossiping that goes on too is deplorable. This needs to be addressed. Whatever happened to the customer being appreciated. Won’t be back !"
"Very good condition and some upto date stylish clothing, Has new stock in each week, window display only on Sale on date given in window. Also has small amount of cutlery shoes bag dvd's ect. Very nice staff . fitting room. But it is small so not wheelchair friendly but in saying that the staff would be great help. I like"
