"Appalling service. I had a claim settled and six weeks later still have not received the cheque, despite several phone calls chasing it up. Such a poor service...and the monthly subscriptions are high and only getting higher. I'd give zero stars if it were possible."
"DO NOT USE VHI HEALTH INSURANCE!! I had the VHI International plan for almost 3 years while seconded to London. This costs just under £1,800 per year. I only made two medical claims during that period and on both occasions found that VHI will fight tooth and nail to refuse even relatively small once-off claims to see a specialist consultant (involving just a few hundred £). I would not like to find out how VHI will behave is you were to submit a larger claim (e.g. for surgery). VHI draw out the claims process in a hope that you will simply give up. By way of example, my optometrist referred me to an eye specialist due to a sudden decline in vision. This was incorrectly assessed (and rejected) as an optical benefit and following a lengthy (but successful) complaints process VHI was forced to reassess the claim. The second time around VHI argued that the referral letter from the optometrist wasn’t sufficient to support the £400 claim (£335 net excess) for a single appointment with an eye specialist on the basis that it doesn’t contain a diagnosis. The letter clearly states that I needed to be checked for underlying conditions that might have caused the sudden deterioration. Don’t waste your money (or time) on VHI insurance."
"Phoned VHI with a query today at 4.45 , I was about 15 minutes waiting going through all the phone steps, then to be told by the agent that because they were short staffed today and there was a long queue behind me and without even asking me what my enquirey was about that she would not be able to deal with my query and could only arrange a call back tomorrow or they were opened 9 to 3 and to call back. Horrendous customer service to its members. A phone message at the beginning saying they were closed would have save customers a lot of time. No other company would not take a query from its customers about their Policy at 4.45 on a Friday evening. So frustrating and dissapointing ."
"I had a query regarding my policy so an update to my renewal was required. Vhi have provided me with my updated policy which is not only a copy and paste from 2020 but is actually even dated 2020 to 2021. 3 times I have asked for correctly dated policy documents ie 2021 to 2022 and Vhi are acting as if it is an unreasonable request. I will be shopping around in the new year for a more people orientated provider."
"I have put in a complaint with VHI dental over 6 months ago over a claim they didn’t pay the full amount on. I have in good faith dealt them and their under writers Collinson in that time with over 20 emails and numerous calls. I’ve been passed from Pilar to post by them. With it still unresolved. I’m a person in my late 30s they way they have treated me is disgusting, I would hate to see how they would deal with an elderly person. It was a simple claim that I was told by them I was covered for. They have repeatedly misinformed me of information. Their claim form isn’t adequate for the type of claim. They tried to use this as a loop hole. They have also breached my data rights. I would stay well clear of Vhi dental I believe it is a scam."
