"A very interesting and unique experience. The cable car is a little shaky to get started but then smooths out; maybe not for the faint hearted. The island itself is beautiful if you enjoy hiking and walking. Just beware of the couple of hours you will wait to get back across to your car when you are finished on the island! (Although we were well warned at the ticket office)."
"At first, when I saw the cable car, I want sure whether to go in it or leave.. but I'm glad I went for it. I have been in other cable cars in another country, and those were very modern, and faster.. But the Dursey cable car although it may be old, slow and simple, it is a good ride and I have to say felt safe. Inside it, there is a fire extinguisher, a radio (I guess it is connected to the control station), a camera (which I think it is great so the person in control can see if everyone is ok. When I went in, I didn't close the door properly and I heard this voice saying how to close it, so it was nice to know the camera is not for show only) Usually 6 people can fit inside the cabin, but due to COVID, only 4 can go with masks. The car runs during October from 9am until 8pm.. give or take 30 minutes.. I don't remember exactly the times.. There is plenty of carpark space at the station and once you come back from the island, if you went for a walk, or if you are hungry, there is a food truck with very nice food and good prices too."
"This was both scary and fun. You will probably notice the Holy water and prayers while your wobbling precariously over the sea and all you can do at that point is laugh! Well worth the €10 to visit Dursey Island and the walk around was lovely. Really cool graveyard and a lovely walk with great views - even on the misty rainy evening when we went. For the tourists complaining about the weather and the cold, welcome to Ireland. For the Irish people complaining about the weather and the cold - cop on, wrap up and wear a raincoat!"
"A nice experience but probably not for the faint hearted! €10/adult, €5/child. 6 max allowed in the car. Really enjoyed the trip over to Dursey. Despite arriving at 9.30 to avoid queues there was already an hour long queue - busy attraction this year! Line moves fast though. Great experience and lovely views travelling each way to and from the Island itself. Definitely recommend. The man selling the tickets is very helpful and will give advice on walks/small map on request"
"Lovely old cable car, that despite heavy crosswinds gives a very steady ride. Return tickets for adults are 10 euros and for kids five. Once on Dursey Island you can do a short, medium, medium plus or long loopwalk, depending on what you feel up to. You can do the hard bit first (through the hills) by going right at the exit of the cable car. Or you can choose to start on the easy but (gravel road) by going straight on the road at the exit of the cable car. The island is mostly occupied by sheep and in lambing season its a haven of cuteness. There are several spots on the looptrail (hill or northside whatever you want to call it) where you can see the ocean on both sides."
