"Lovely place for bird watching, a Snipe seen here 2 days ago, and regularly we see a range of ducks, geese, moorhen, and occasionally heron."
"A delightful spot."
"This is a little known pond that has a plethora of wildlife and fauna. Only recently has its presence become more widely known amongst locals following the building of the Darwin's Walk development and the efforts of some locals to try to preserve it for all to enjoy into the future. They are currently trying to get the old wire fences removed from the water to protect the wildlife in conjunction with Shrewsbury Town Council and the other landowners. There are numerous resident Mallards, Tufted ducks, Coots and Moorhens with migratory Canada and Grey Lag Geese choosing to nest and breed here along with the harder to see Teal. Also, numerous other common birds share this site with more unusual birds such as Great Spotted Woodpeckers and Swallows. Hopefully any future development of the fields on the opposite bank will not spoil such an idyllic place to ponder and relax, and it will form part of the natural green corridor joining up the other ponds in the area."
