"I'm not happy about the care my cat received. I was told that she seemed to be drinking a lot of water. I found the bed I'd brought from home to be wet underneath because the water bowl next to the bed had leaked. It had leaked because the bench is bowed in the middle. Yes there was a heat lamp over the bed but it must have felt cold with the water under the bed. When I tried to put my cat back into her carrier, she resisted, which isn't normal for her. I then discovered that the bedding was soaking wet with urine and soiled with feaces. It had been like that for the whole week she was there. Why didn't they check the carrier? Why didn't they realise the sloping bench would make the water bowl leak?"

"I've just picked Freddie up from his first trip to Kandahar Cattery. He's clearly been looked after and cared for brilliantly well. He was confident, he walked out of his pen purring and gave us both a cat rub against our legs . I rang at the start of the week to check how he was and my call was returned to tell me he was fine and settling in. I'm very happy to say we will be using Kandahar again. And finally to the owners .. Thanks for looking after Freddie. Marty and I sincerely appreciate how you've looked after him for 11 days."

"The staff are friendly, including a Labrador dog which is allowed to walk around inside, past the pen area causing the cats to hiss and arch. News paper is used in the litter trays not cat litter. Our cat puts weight on far too easily however, when he came home, he had lost weight and had become very timid. A neighbour commented on his changed behaviour. He was covered in scabs from a cat fight. He is quite accustomed to catteries but this one had such a bad effect on him. It literally took him a few months to recover. They never asked to see his vaccination record. I had to volunteer it before I left. I don’t leave negative reviews lightly and have been thinking this through for a while."

"We recently used this cattery for our cat. On first impressions the cattery seemed clean and situated in a nice setting. However when we came to collect our cat we noticed a swelling on the side of our cats face when we arrived home. We first thought this could be a sting but soon found out it was an abscess which was caused by a bite under our cats jaw. The vet had said that the bite had come from either another cat or possibly a rat and it would have been done while our cat would have been at the cattery. After contacting the cattery about this they said they knew nothing about it and that they do not allow cats to mix together, which would mean it was likely done by a rat. The cattery said they have rat traps about and the cages are secure, but this does not explain why and how our cat could have been bitten? Secure or not the facts say that our cat had been bitten while under their care. I hate to complain and leave a bad review but unfortunately the cattery has not been very helpful and we have not heard from the owner since speaking to a member of staff and we have had a vets bill as well as paying for the cattery. We will not be using again. Update: In response to the reply from the owner below: The vet clearly stated that the bite happened within a few days of the abscess forming which was while she was at the cattery! This would not have happened at home because of the length of time would have been too long from when the abscess appeared. In addition to this our cat does not go outside at home. Please read my review properly! Facts are facts. But thank you anyway for your apology and it’s unfortunate that we had this bad experience."

"We've used Kandahar for our 2 cats anytime we've been on holiday or visiting family for the past 3 years. We have always been happy with how the cats have been looked after, which gives us peace of mind when we are away. The staff are all friendly and fuss over our cats. Would recommend."
