Reviews of Mither Tap
"It is gradual climb up to the Mither Tap (Bennachie) it is steeper near the top. It is a brilliant walk with terrific views of the Aberdeenshire countryside and Aberdeen City. You can also see the North Sea you do gain a good height. It is very interesting to see what remains of the old hill fort. It is best to come prepared we set off in good sunshine but it was much colder up on top and the winds were much stronger. Coming back downhill can prove more difficult as parts in the forest were slippy underfoot. All in all an excellent experience and parking is free at the Rowantre entrance."
"Splendid Hike up to the summit of Mither Tap. Good sign posted route, starting at the car park at Bennachie Visitor Centre (£3-4 for parking as of this review), a gradual incline through the Pine Forests leads up to the steep slopes of the peak which rewards the challenger with brilliant views. Moderate hike but can be taken slow, can imagine in wet conditions the top may be slippery so caution would be advised. Allow 1.5 to 3 hours total depending on fitness/speed. Sturdy hiking trainers/boots recommended and bring water/snacks."
"There are a number of walks to reach the summit. Some longer but slightly easier. My favourite approach is from the Rowantree car park - a mixture of woodland leading onto moorland, taking you past Hosie's well, with fantastic views along the way. The summit is very steep but we'll worth the climb. The views from the top are spectacular. You can see the whole of Aberdeenshire to the coast and the Cairngorms in the distance. It can be very windy at the top so don't be fooled by calm conditions on the way up!"
"Beautiful trails! Had a lovely walk and climb. On an amazing weather like this, it truly is rewarding. Every trail was unique and instructions and paths were clear. No worries about getting lost here. The view is stunning! Also a nice walk to bring your dogs along! They'd love it."
