Reviews of National Tyres and Autocare - a Halfords company
"After calling into halfords and being told to come back tomorrow afternoon I tried here, headlight out ? No problem at all for these lads and ladies. 5✨️ service all done and dusted in 10 minutes, thanks to all of you for you superb service."
"Thanks for giving me back an unroadworthy car. I took the car in twice for a wheel alignment. After the first time I was unable to get the car over 40mph without the car skidding all over the road. After the second time the car wasn't as bad bit wobbly on the road. I took the car to a reputable mechanic afterwards and the axle bushes were completely worn down. He informed me that this problem should and would have been noticed when the wheel alignment was done. He said it was VERY unsafe to be driving. The paperwork for my car was not done and I was not charged. I suspect this was due to them spotting a fault. They did not tell me there was an issue and advised the car was safe to drive when it was not. Avoid."
"Took my car in for my scheduled appointment to get new tyres at 5pm as arranged m Was told that it would take an hour or an hour and a half (email says 1-2hours) but we would be called if the tyres were fitted soner. We went back to the garage at 6.20 pm and it was closed. I have no calls, texts, emails on my phone to say my car was ready. Plus we showed up within the time frame. There was someone in the car park at that time so my partner knocked on the door and the girl in the car phoned the receptionist. We were told that the garage closes at 6. The lady then phoned the guy we spoke to andHe apparently doesn't drive and despite "working a littlel past 6", there was no way he could come back to unlock the garsge"
"Been using this ompnany for years and never let me down. Prices are competitive and staff very helpful. I understand that the older a car gets the more chance of things going wrong with it show up. The place was just busy from morning till night and I was glad that they managed to fit me in."
"Paid up 5 weeks in advance, for an MOT, 2 tyres, puncture repair and wheel alignment. Got phoned the day before I was due for my appointment to say the smoke machine was needing serviced and they couldn't do my MOT. Ok fair enough, decided to proceed with the rest of the work. So turns up at my appointment time, told come back in an hour and a half. Return to collect the car, to find my space saver fitted to the wheel that was due to have the puncture repair. So, the wheel which had a nail in it, that I've known about for awhile, was never loosing air, miraculously had a leak on a part of the tyre, that couldn't be repaired, ok, fair enough I'll just put another tyre on it. Paid for it and before I left was told my tracking was 6mm out and to come back the following week when it had settled and that the tech had stripped 2 wheel nuts that I would need to replace, so I got sent on my way with 2 wheels with 4 nuts instead of 5. Well, instantly I noticed my steering wheel was still not straight and it still pulled to the side. Took the car home, knew right away that half the work had not been carried out. Spoke to my wife to contacted the complaints department. Few emails back-and-forth and some images and we have been refunded almost all of the money due to the Aberdeen branch being cowboys. Now I'm not a mechanic or savvy with technical stuff, but I'm not stupid so I can tell when being ripped off. I jacked up the car and popped the wheels off and it's blatantly obvious the alignment was never done... Which in hindsight will explain why I never received a before and after printout of the alignment. Begs the question then, did my tyre get punctured intentionally so I would buy a new tyre instead? Some photos of the stripped wheel nuts, luckily they didn't damage the studs otherwise I'd be pursuing a lot more in damages. You can also see where the bolts on a track rods haven't been touched. So in the end, took it elsewhere and it would appear I've not been the only one. If you have had work done at Aberdeen branch I would seriously question if you really needed it done, maybe ask for the old parts to see how bad they really were."
