"For years I drove past this beautiful pub in the New Forest on my way to work and this weekend I finally went there for dinner with a friend. It is as pretty and authentic inside as it is outside. The food was delicious and the staff very attentive and friendly. I will now definitely go more often there. Great place!"
"First time visiting, on a recommendation from family. Gorgeous old pub with lots of character (I especially love the wooden menus!) Good food all round - the Venison steaks were wonderful, the vegan burger was lovely, the taste of the forest was excellent, and all the deserts were great too! Highly recommend a visit if you're in the area."
"After a long cold day in Winchester, was looking forward to a traditional British pub experience in the New Forest. On arrival there was little to no parking, so I had to walk a fair way down the long dark road, couldn't help but think it was the start of the Blair witch Project!? Food was average at best but we were set around an L-shape table with more chairs than people...was like trying to move through a shopping aisle of fat people. Unfortunately there were no baby changing facilities & our best effort was swapping nappies in the middle of the pub. Food was a little plain Jane & for the price you would expect better to be honest. Service was pretty good & the young staff were highly attentive. Loved the fact they appreciated having the dogs making up, what was a warm atmosphere."
"Lovely pub off the beaten track. Parking spaces out the front. Very friendly staff. Dog friendly!!! Beautiful food with a fantastic vegan and vegetarian menu. I had the vegan chorizo burger which I would highly recommend. My mother had the vegan curried cauliflower pie which she would also recommend."
"Pub: 5* Accommodation: 3* We booked our stay here after reading excellent reviews of the restaurant's vegan options... and, in that regard, we were certainly not disappointed. We ordered the vegan pie and it was enormous, and delicious. The pub itself was really cosy, with a great atmosphere, happy punters, and friendly staff. However, our room was pretty shabby and offered very little sound insulation from the pub. I get that the building is old, but surely something could at least be done to stop the front door slamming all evening (which, in turn, caused the wardrobe door to clonk, annoyingly). Thankfully, once the pub had closed, it quietened down significantly and we enjoyed a restful night. The included vegan breakfast option was ok, but could be better."
