"Reading the earlier reviews I think we had an unlucky experience. We had two pies, gammon and chips and a pizza. The latter two were spot on. Tasty home cooked chips, that's always a winner. But the pies, the reason for visiting, were disappointing. The pies themselves were very tasty. But they were served sitting in the gravy which surprised us. I'd have expected it to be in a jug. Both the chicken and the mint gravy were very watery and they made the pastry so soggy that they ruined the pie. I ended up putting the pie on a side plate to eat it. So pies good, cauliflower cheese good, chips good, gravy ruined it all! It's a dog friendly pub and as a dog owner that didn't bother me. The party near us had three very well behaved dogs but the second party brought in a dog that constantly barked. It made it very uncomfortable and conversation difficult. If your dog can't behave don't bring it to dinner!"

"Ne er knew this place existed till someone told us about it. It's a little gem of a place, they do a selection of pies and potato options. My steak and kidney was gorgeous with homemade chips and gravy. I was annoyed I didn't spot the cauliflower cheese till afterwards. My pedigree was top drawer. If your in the area give it a try."
