Reviews of The Waters Edge
"This Place Now Called the Gaff Rigger is Open Again under New Management and its Now a Great Place for Really Good Food and Very Reasonably Priced Drinks all Served by Lovely and Freindly Staff..Worth a Visit if your in the Area.."
"The food here is good, but well overpriced. Service is slightly below average. When I visited, the restaurant was exhibiting a five star food and hygiene rating certificate, while they actually had only three stars, as verified with the authorities. I was very disappointed when I found out that the password for the Wi-Fi was not given to everyone. In my case, all of my friends obtained it, but when I asked for it the lady behind the counter wouldn’t give it to me, saying that it was very slow and I was better off using my own mobile phone data... and I asked twice on two different occasions. I must’ve had an ugly face... The last time I was there, I was kindly asked to leave at 9:15 by the owner, because he had to close."
"We arrived almost at the end of food service but we were still given a very warm welcome. The food was really delicious and very good quality. With a great view over the water it was a very lovely evening."
"OK, this place has seen better days, but the food is excellent and well presented. Like all marina location eateries, prices are way above average...a tea at £2.45 is motorway services prices, although generally they do not have lovely views over a marina!!! Reasonable choice of beer and lager, a varied wine selection, but again priced at the higher end and the aforementioned food menu make this a venue for a lunchtime meal, where atmosphere comes second to price. The decoration and furniture have obviously been around for a few years and the nautical/yachting themes of the framed prints and paintings, appear to be about 10-15 years old? That said, the manager is very welcoming and seems to know most of his clients well and is obviously liked by the 'locals' from the myriad yachts moored in the marina. There is disabled parking very near...but access to the main bar/restaurant is by stairs (about 20) so keep that in mind. Worth a visit, but don't expect high end comfort."
"I cannot rate everyone at the Waters Edge highly enough! On a perfect sunny September's afternoon we led our wedding party to this delightful restaurant overlooking the marina. From the moment our guests stepped out of their cars in the beautiful sunlight to the moment they staggered back into the taxis when night had long fallen, the Waters Edge was complimented on every single level! We were only a small wedding party at around 25 plates for the sit down meal but we were treated with the respect, dignity and professionalism as I expect they would treat a party four times the size! The planning stage was efficient and relaxed with Nick, Melanie and James doing as much as they could to make our day the most special it could be. The setting of the restaurant, overlooking the white boats bobbing up and down in the glimmering water, is impressively beautiful. The place settings and decorations were elegant and not over stated. The service at all times was completed with a smile and a nod. The food was absolutely sublime; there were two well-established chefs sat with knife and fork in hand, only for each course to be devoured and an empty plate to be returned. When it came to the disco there was never a complaint with the level of the music or the level of dancing prowess. And then there was the buffet; it was the buffet of Kings. Just when we thought it could not get any better there was a firework display over the marina that lit up the sky and topped what was quite frankly the best reception we could ever have dreamed of (admittedly the firework display was not put on by the Waters Edge, but it was the best place to watch it happen!) If you ever want to put on a wedding reception where the food is exceptional on all occasions (we have eaten there four times, and each time we are taken aback by the quality of the food), the setting is as beautiful as anywhere on the south coast and the service is friendly, professional and never stuffy... this is the place! The Waters Edge simply was the best choice for our reception. Towards the end of the night some of the patrons of the bar asked to join the party and get on the dance floor; this only added to the atmosphere of the place. Excellent on all levels!"
