"If you plan on your shopping trip being completed in a timely manner, don't bother with this Asda. 90% of the checkouts are self service and the staff are constantly idle and aren't working to authorise age restricted products etc so queues form up the store and you can be waiting 5+ minutes to check out. They also recently installed NPR cameras on their car park as well so probably worth avoiding that also ."
"Never has anything you want or need. But for some reason I always come back more for convenience. The staff are friendly enough which makes up for the poor supply of any actual produce. Always give Asda the benefit of the doubt and then go to a better supermarket to buy what I need."
"Only 2 check outs are the long conveyer/staff attended type (although I've never seen a staff member on those checkouts) which is unusual for a store of this size/footfall: the rest are self-checkout and use recording devices/cameras which are aimed at faces rather than goods - then perhaps suggesting this is for ID capture rather than prevention of crime. Staff aren't particularly helpful: an older lady needed some assistance with parcel return and was dealt with very curtly by a member of staff - from her general grandiose demeanour I gathered she may be of a low-level supervisory status within the company. I assisted the lady and sure enough (having been through this myself at the Burton branch) it was the same dismissive member of staff who then arrived to bring the customer's parcel to her. The lady was quite shocked by how rude/dismissive and unhelpful this staff member was. As previously outlined, having been through this many times at the Burton store... I wasn't. The store itself is pretty good: nice layout; great selection of goods; very clean and with good parking facilities. Just a shame about the human interactions (or lack thereof)."
"This is the most user-unfriendly and stressful Asda we have come across. The disabled parking is totally inadequate and you could easily get caught if you failed to read the small print on a sign requiring you to register your vehicle. This is done by queuing at customer services. The store itself is small and doesn't carry a lot of lines and not one of the two normal tills was open so self service was the only choice. Won't be returning."
"I called into Asda this morning on my way to a birthday party to buy some wine, champagne etc. The store only has self checkout isles. I refuse to use these as being an ex retail store manager I can see the only reason for these is to reduce the staffing levels. There were four staff members standing around chatting to each other while customers scanned and bagged all of their own purchases. I then went to the make my purchase at the Lottery ticket counter and was then told that I couldn’t pay for these items there. So I put my basket down and walked out. I then drove round to Waitrose to make my purchases and get served properly. The prices were actually cheaper in Waitrose for some of the drinks. I spent £98 in total. So Asda, you are probably losing at least £3000 per year from my family per year because of your lack of “operator tills”. I know that I’m not alone in this as I’ve just ready some similar posts. Self checkout tills are awful. They remove all of the personality from shopping. I will not shop in a store that doesn’t provide service.. Good luck in the future. This is not what consumers want.."
