"A park that provides a lovely area to walk and spend time with nature, mostly better suited for dog walkers and those you might enjoy kicking a ball around for a while. The children's park is nice enough but with regular vandalism and rubbish thrown around by irresponsible individuals, it can be a bit haphazard in my personal opinion. However with few options for children to play in the area, this does provide a vital haven. I'd be wary of letting my young children play here alone unless they had a group of friends with them, with so much open space and then nooks with "forest" like appearance, and the lake can be tempting for young ones to mess around, it's a space I'd feel safer exploring with the family first to get a sense of the land first."
"A lovely calm circular walk, mostly suitable for off lead dog walking. (Do avoid ParkRun Saturdays 9-10). It does get wet in the winter with wellies/walking boots best in places even on the hard path. Popular for cyclists, especially those learning to ride. Perfect for wheelchairs, mobility scooter and buggies - when not flooded. Note the path is a rough surface so bumpy on the hands if using a rollator. Many enjoy feeding Canadian geese and swans in summer months. At times like all places it gets blue green algae. Note that between the bridge under the dual carriageway all the way to Bannatynes and the tunnel bridge and a little beyond the fencing is not consistent between path a dual carriageway. No problem for kids as bushes separate, but for puppies and rabbit chasers it's better on a lead - I nearly learnt the hard way. In the tunnel bridge near Bannatynes broken glass is often present and teenage behaviour can feel less welcoming in the dark."
"This is a beautiful Park. I lead an health walk around it, throughout the year. It's great, as we watch the Goslings, Ducklings, Cygnets and Coots etc. all grow up. There are 104 different species of birds that either live or visit our lake during the year. This year we had a pair of Egyptian Geese, House Martins come during May to August. There are the Herons too. In the trees and bushes there are all the birds that you see in our gardens. It is a fantastic area for bio diversity and wildlife, including snakes and lizards. The two lakes are full of fish. And, of course, under our feet as we walk around, we have the remains of a Bronze Age port, apparently its the largest one in Europe, African spices were found in an archaeological dig."
