"We ate here on Sunday and the jazz in the background is a selling point. The staff are also very attentive and welcoming, however, I wasn't overly impressed by the food. Being in brighton I expected the prawns for starter to be plump and large but they were actually tiny with little flavour and seemed to be frozen ones rather than fresh. The beef was nice but I was a little underwhelmed by the veg. The desserts were better but the fruit salad was mostly orange and apple and I would have liked a bit more variety. If you are staying at the hotel this is a good choice if weather isn't great but I wouldn't recommend to travel for the lunch which is a pity as the staff are really great."

"Bar staff here are so lovely and the food was unbelievably good. Classic pub food but with really interesting twists and bold flavours. Came for a meal with a big group of friends and the first words out of everyone’s mouth after the first bite was “wow” and then pure silence after that. Highly recommend !"

"Had a delicious Sunday roast, reasonable price too! The pork was very tender (could taste the cider apple in it) and my friend's beef perfectly cooked. The staff were friendly too and a nice cosy atmosphere"

"A very nice 'back street' pub in Brighton. Very cosy atmosphere, low lighting, candles on the tables. Clean. Good service and reasonable prices. We just had drinks so can't comment on the food but it sounded nice. Great for drinks after work."

"We were a group of 4 girls , we just arrived for a drink on a Saturday night,I been refuse to be served because accused to be to drunk. I was just acting politely and without disturbing no-one , I actually come back from a concert for my birthday with 3 of my girlfriend.All I had was one drink at the concert. I'm a restaurant manager and I know is important to be trained in the sell of alcohol, so please training your staff better instead of accusing people they just trying to have a nice time."
