"Attended the Mother's Day carvery. Had been advised to be seated 15 minutes before the table was booked at Midday. This allowed us to order drinks before going up for food on time. Starter and puddings are self service. The main carvery was plated for you. The choice of food was extensive and staff were attentive and friendly considering how busy it was. My two grown up sons were impressed with the whole experience. I was given a complimentary glass of fizz for being an attending Mum which was appreciated. Will be returning in the future."

"Booked the valentines meal on Tuesday. Was not sure what to expect as the menu was quite restricted, but at least something was being done for those that liked to celebrate these occasions. We were not as it turned out disappointed. The whole evening was carried of to near perfection. The food was excellent, the steaks were the nicest we have both had. If this is as good as these occasions get you should do more. Great value for the price. Chriss & Avril"

"This was our first visit here after being recommended to come by friends. We were made to feel very welcome as soon as we arrived and were promptly shown to our table. Our server Charlie was friendly and very efficient. The food selection was very good, generous portions were served up and the food tasted great! It was busy as it was a Friday lunchtime and we thought we may have a wait to get our food but this wasn’t the case. We thought how well run it was with so many people to cater for and that even though all the members of staff were working hard there were plenty of smiles to be seen which is nice. Well done to everyone involved and we look forward to coming back soon!"

"In a picturesque but accessible location this hotel was however a mistake for a four night stay. It offered a carvery in the dining room plus a separate bar menu. Unfortunately at the time of our visit the bar menu was severely reduced, so we limited our carvery experience to one night only. It was good carvery food, just too much for 4 nights."

"We have just had our wedding reception at The Old Tollgate, and can't praise them highly enough. The food was amazing as usual and the service was impeccable. The staff were always helpful, but I must thank Rachel Alcantara who helped us plan the occasion. She was so friendly and professional and guided us through the whole process. Everyone went over and above to make our wedding reception such a special event. Marilyn and Bob Tree."
