"It's a stunning park. Certain areas are well maintained and looked after like the towpath and Belvoir Forest. But others are not. Bits of it are under serious threat. Firstly from housing developers looking to make money near Annadale at the permanent expense of Badgers, foxes, bats, Kingfishers and many other species inhibiting meadows. These developers are only out for money and really don't give a toss about the environment when it comes down to it. Secondly the Lagan Meadows in particular has become a hotspot for general ASB (fires very commonplace). Certain young groups seem to have gotten the impression they can can trash the park with no consequences. These meadows are there for biodiversity, relaxing and walking only. Not raves, fires or parties. So be warned now. Parties/Raves/Fires involving alcohol at Lagan Meadows will be reported. There is strict signage at the entrances to the park saying no fires and no alcohol. People shouldn't need to be told to pick up their litter but look at my photos which I'll upload soon and you'll see why I have had to do so. It's absolutely disgusting. So much litter (cans and plastic) is being dropped I didn't have enough bags to pick it all up. I'd consider it fly tipping! It's also dangerous, the sharp metal cans and broken glass are there waiting to slice a dogs paw open. It's outrageous that this is being allowed in a public park. Will those that drop it be paying for the Vet bills? We don't have much nature, green spaces left in N.ireland and we need to be doing more to save this precious gem! If you see a party involving alcohol, fires, raves or underage drinking in Lagan Meadows. Report it to 101. The park is being destroyed by this ASB."
"Go here regularly, enjoy walking along the river down to lock keepers, back up the other side of the river into the forest its always enjoyable. I avoid the lock keeps restaurant expensive and have ended up with a couple of tummy bugs eating there. When the kayaking people are there enjoy watching them."
"The towpath is one of my favourite regular walks. So many different routes are available so you can have such a different experience each time you visit. Definitely worth a visit."
"Love this place, such a variety of walk with the meadows, tow path and forest areas. Always seems something new with the change of season's"
"A great walking and cycling surface with no climbs extending from the edge of Belfast to Lisburn. Benches available for picnics or just to rest. Pretty busy at the Belfast end but still enjoyable scenery."
