"THE DESSERT LAYER WAS DISAPPOINTING AND NOT WORTH THE BIG BUCKS We came to have the traditional British tea time experience. We had high hopes. We made a reservation online. They provide for a variety of eating restrictions, so we were relieved. The tea room had an authentic aura, and everyone was enjoying their time. The waiting staff was very kind and friendly. All these, plus the amount we were going to pay for this experience, made our expectations go higher. We were provided with a starter and a cocktail, and both were good. Later the tea tray came, and we got even more excited because everything looked so good. The tea was superb. Sandwiches, although sometimes bland, had good bread and were good. The scones, clotted cream and jam were fantastic and the best in the whole tray. I was deeply disappointed by the dessert layer. The flavour profiles were really poorly chosen, and I couldn't even eat one dessert as a whole because of how bad it tasted. I am somewhat familiar with French pastries myself, so that I may have a slightly more discerning palate, but I am sure even somebody who has no idea would notice how bad it was. I could only eat fruits. Some of the cakes were dry. Some were too sweet. The tart shells had a weird taste to them. And the flavouring of the creme patisseries was the most unusual in a wrong way. All in all not worth the money I paid for it. If they offered just scones and tee, I would go to eat again, but they don't. So I don't think I will ever visit this place. My search for a good tea room continues."
"A uniquely British experience. The tea and all of the offerings were delicious, and the service was wonderful. We ordered the Assam and vanilla Earl Grey, and we enjoyed both enough to purchase more of the loose leaf tea on our way out. The hot scone with clotted cream and jam was absolutely the best."
"Absolutely amazing experience! And I use the word experience because it really was an experience, not just something to eat. There was so many personal touches, from the happy birthday sign on my mum's afternoon tea, to the birthday scroll, and so many more but I don't want to ruin it for anyone going. We have been to The Shard for afternoon tea and Josephine's is absolutely on parr, and in some ways even surpasses it. The food is delicious! Everything is homemade and tastes devine! Decor and tableware is gorgeous. Their raspberry fizz drinks are yum! Even the glasses they serve their drinks in are beautiful. Service is 10 out of 10. Smart, polite, attentive. So much love, thought and time is put in. The only change I would make is they just need a bigger venue so they can have bigger tables. Have even more people coming, it's hands down the best place I've been to in Nottingham. And they have so many goodies brought to the table that you want more space! I'm not surprised Josephine's is in the top 10 per cent in the country. Thank you so much for a wonderful experience, we can't wait to come again!"
"WHAT A GEM!!! Excellent service with exceptional, high quality food! A beauty in the middle of the city. The mind drifts away with the eclectic decor, fresh cooking smells and well chosen subtle old classic movie soundtracks. A must see! Gluten free, halal, vegetarian and kosher all catered for and without compromising on taste. Respectable prices and well worth the occasional treat."
