Reviews of The Royal Hotel
"We had a wedding in the Astor room the whole place was dirty floors,to ceilings, the toilets had broken doors hanging barely on the kitchen sinks leaked from plumbing underneath with whatever they could try to stick to it to try stopping it the tables are stained marked and damaged as we're chairs half them didn't match each other and you could tell even with seat covers on the hotel manager said we could bring our own drinks after he said he could get draught ciders and beers in as he can't get anything other than Worthington and Carling everything else was in store brought cans the bar staff charged different prices from £3:00-£4:50 for a can of strongbow cider then the bar manager said anyone drinking drinks they'd brought in would be asked to leave when I told her the hotel manager I'd paid told us two days before we could if we wanted too she told us he wasn't the licencee so I went and asked about it with her and he denied it Infront of her today we went back to clean up as he was ringing at 9am where are you why you not cleaning up even though he told us we had untill 11 PM the next day to do it as he understands that people need a lie in. after the wedding quests that stayed in rooms said there dated over priced and very cheap looking yet expensive to stay there but as they were convenient for them as travelling a long way to the wedding they'd use them but never again manager just sits there smiling at you going yea yea yea nooo nooo noo he was happy taking a fortune for a room that was a dump when we got there the carpets are stick as they had a Asian wedding the weekend before and coved in curry good stain I had to buy duct tape for the dance floor as large chunks of flooring missing and was worried about a high heel going down it and a leg getting broken I would never ever attend this venue again I'll be contacting environmental health about it as it needs shutting down."
"The hotel rooms are clearly very dated, but the rooms prices are great and importantly the rooms are clean and the staff are friendly and helpful!!"
"Horrific management. The once stunning surroundings of the Royal Hotel have now become barely habitable. Infact unhygienic. Filthy bathrooms, mould on skirting boards. Even the bed sheets weren't in any way clean. Bad service, complaints ignored by belligerent staff. And the owner could not care less. Utter shambles. Utter disgrace. If you are visiting Walsall stay ANYWHERE but here."
"Very disappointed, had a gig booked there months in advance, got rid of loads of printed tickets (out of pocket)and 300 angry punters who have made plans in advance for child minders and work..for the owner Norman to cancel on us a week before the gig is very cowardly. Hope his company goes downhill very fast!"
"For the price the rooms are decent, the staff as well as the people staying there are pleasant. Room had a TV, microwave and fridge/freezer. At the back there's a big secure car park. There's a kitchen and lounge downstairs. Place has a lift too. Only downside is that you can't come and go in as you please at night (after 9pm/10pm ish)."
