Reviews of Markfield Park
"Went to their bonfire night and we had a lovely time. The adventure playground was spacious and clean and they had a well maintained bonfire with marshmallows to roast. My daughter and her friend had a lovely time, we will definitely go again to enjoy the space."
"Cafe used to be nice, but seems to have changed hands. Staff clueless. Park still good for a walk to get your step count up."
"GREEN SPACE So much more could be done to this park. It’s bland. So much space could afford to have dedicated wildflower beds. Apart from the trees, there is huge scope to encourage wildlife. Park management resembles a sports field. Additionally, diversity of flora would be more attractive to visitors. The Friends group is lackadaisical. There is very little diversity of wild flora in the park and the only colour to be seen, is in the small rose garden, (offset to one far side of the park). Why not sow a wildflower mix, with ornamental grass seed, for example, around the park verges? Mixing in Yellow Rattle, (a semi parasitic plant), would combat against the growth of Perennial Rye Grass, and ensure more flowers grow up and less ‘standard’ grass, (which smothers everything). This would ensure more light reaching flowers. So much space in this park has been ignored for wildlife. It’s as if the importance of wildlife here is very low. There is huge room for improvement. Making this one small change to the perimeter verges, would encourage more diversity of species. I would be interested to know Markfield Park’s Management Plan. THE CAFE It’s quite expensive for the area and customer service is strained and lacks warmth."
"This hidden little park is fabulous. No-one really knows about it but it has a lot to offer. It is tucked along the canal by the marshes with a lovely river walk, has a new cafe which offers great food like breakfast and ice cream, and has a really lovely museum with an ancient stream engine well worth the visit. For those curious people out there, there is a gigantic community maintained skate park with fresh street art changed regularly. There is something for everybody in these park. I go to the cafe regularly to have lunch and play ping Pong with my friends. It's so so super lovely."
"Lovely space and playground for children and adults. Big field for exercise. There are planted roses in different colours. A coffee shop and a skating board ground with a lot of fantastic graffiti works."
